Re: started working on the 65 suburban

If I remember right you used the PB dropmember. Using this did you have to do any kind of driveshaft tunnel? I am starting to get all my parts together and looking at Zing my frame instead of the dropmember (short on money) but wondering what all buying a drop member will keep me from having to do. I think I'll have to do a little work to the tranny tunnel for the 4L60E but curious how much you had to do overall using the dropmember

Re: started working on the 65 suburban

HYes i have the porterbuilt cross member. The only thing ihad to do to my tunnel was to change over tothe large hump tranny cover vs the small hump as you look at the motor pics in my build you will notice the engine sits very high i wanted to make sure the engine sits high enough that it doesnt hit the ground when it is layed out i am not positive if you will have clearence with the low hump with the engine in the stock position with the porterbuilt i think you might also the trans tunnel wouldnt be to hard to raise a few inches let me know if you have any other questions.

Re: started working on the 65 suburban

Thanks for the info...did you modify your tunnel or did you buy one? I'm not sure where to get them at but will probably need to modify mine as well no matter if I Z it or use the dropmember. Did you have to do any mods for the driveshaft or just the trans tunnel?

I didnt modify my driveshaft but i have a 2 pc and i have a slip shaft in the rear on so there isnt any binding as far as the tunnel i hooked up with a guy steve almeter 585-314-7907 he deals with used c10 parts also see if anyone on the board has a hi hump setup just dont foget it is 2pcs there is a smaller pc that will have to be cut to make the transition from the firewall to the high hump cover. if you dont get that you will have to fabricat it so to answer your question no modification except changing from low hum to a factory hi hump cover hope this helps let me know if you have any other questions.

Right well you will get there I started pulling my a arms apart to paint an install new bushings an ball joints an all. I went to help a friend the other day move a truck to his shop to work on it. An the owner of the truck knocked my trailer loose from the truck an trashed my dads back hatch o. His 01 sub so now I'm out 500 dollars so it will be a little bit before I can do any more to mine
