Re: My 89 CC Dually: Double Wide

Thanks guys.
It was a good feeling buzzing up the road w/it back together. I went back to check off the last few items on my 'punchlist' yesterday & what a list! I hope to get it up today for inspection. If so, I'll be legal by noon tomorrow & will try to get the bed Line-X'd pending weather by the end of the week (supposed to rain this week after Tuesday).

OE Blazer panel modified to work w/the truck gate. I've had it & the OE rear sport bumper stashed away since the late 90's for a 'future project'.

May I ask how you modified the insert to fit your tailgate? I'd like to do the same to mine.

Its the outer portion of the blazer w/the center structure carefully removed & replaced w/a center structure from a truck filler panel in its place.

Wow looks great! If you don't mind me asking where did you get the center section of your grill? Mine has the big gmc logo in it and I hate it. Thanks

Its from LMC. But, it's fully chromed so I had to un-bling it because I wanted a more subdued appearance.

Funny you mention those other caps....

My buddy told me to make sure I popped the full/old school caps off so the alignment rigs could be attached to the wheels. Once I had them off, the wheels while clean looked unfinished so I popped the 2nd set on just for the trip up the road.

I rolled into the lot & my buddy just started laughing. He said he was going to give me some grief about my OCD & tell me not to be bringing the truck up there w/wheels naked. He didn't get the chance to call me before I showed up but got the chuckle anyway because I had swapped the newer caps on.

I had the tall one on there previously. From experience, they become an issue when it comes to rolling a jack under the front end. I'm on the fence about getting a shorter one @ this point in time. I prob will.... but I'm not in a rush to get one.

Not sure what they originally came on specifically but I've seen them on duallys, wreckers, & motorhomes.

Are they the 88-98 dually centers?

The 'small' caps are 88-98 caps (the one's installed in the alignment pic).
The full caps (the laid out pics) are from earlier year models.

Re: My 89 CC Dually: Double Wide

I got the dually inspected on Tuesday & after sorting through legal issues (license plate), it's now registered again. I'll work on getting the front tubs re-installed tomorrow as well as finalize some safety related items on the rebuilt front suspension.

I love walking out into the shop each day & seeing the bed installed vs sitting on the cart
