Re: 1965 Suburban Resto-Rebuild
That looks nice! PITA, but should be worth it in the long run.

Avoid Herculiner. Raptor Liner much mo bettah, and you can color match to whatever you want. PM Mcbassin and dig on his thread for an example. Not peein' on your parade, personal experience talking.
Work so far looks grrrreat!

Re: 1965 Suburban Restoration
![]() The pic of the suburban towing the coupe is what I envision for the future of my 66 stepside; hauling my 66 Tempest to car shows that are out of town. Your engine looks great, you have any upgrades in mind for it?

Re: 1965 Suburban Restoration
Great start! I love the suburbans.
One note of warning, I recall reading a thread a while back where someone learned the hard way that some of the sheet metal from truck cabs isn't exactly the same as the suburbans. I believe it was the area just above the windshield that didn't fit. It might be just isolated to that area. |

Re: 1965 Suburban Restoration
Awsome Burb. My dad had a '65 pickup with the 292, 3-speed when I was growing up. Learned to drive in it. That thing had more power than the 283 in my '62 truck.
The HAMB is great for an early hot rod style car/truck, but like you said, this will fit in here better. I'm a member over there too.

Re: 1965 Suburban Resto-Rebuild
Okay, that's cool. You just want to make sure you get the epoxy into all of the crack or it can continue cracking in the area that is not epoxied.

Re: 1965 Suburban Resto-Rebuild
Your test wheel looks great !
Any chance you could post a pic (here or in my build) of the epoxy you used and where you got it please? I am a total noob at some of this stuff, and any help from someone who has had obvious success would be awesome !

Actually--I am trying JB-Weld on this one.. But, I also picked up some PC-7 which is a "regular" epoxy. Again--I'm must trying this for the first time and there doesn't seem to be a single perfect answer for the repair. So, i'm just trying these products for now.. Being that JB-Weld is typically used on metal repairs--it may not work.. But, ya never know. |
