Re: factory 65 chevy assembly picture
This is a cool thread. Im really diggin' the skinny tires. I been looking at alot of the original brochures and stuff. For me, bigger(wider) tires look a little weird. wagonslayer's pic of the 64 looks cool with the hubcaps and skinny tires.

Re: factory 65 chevy assembly picture
It may not be a factory pic, but it is a pic of my Dad circa 66-68 working for Hi-Way Electric out of Joliet, Illinois... I remember getting a ride in this truck on occasion. Enjoy!

Re: factory 65 chevy assembly picture
Who needs a skidder if you have a chevy truck ?? (wonder why they didnt try it with the ford?? ) on a side note , I know for a fact that ford used to lease vehicles from chevy and vice versa , they used to tear them apart and study noise vibration and etc. then put them back together and return them after a period of time...

I don’t think I have any of mine, but I do have this one of dad’s on display. Part of our daily arsenal, including these VIN cards we carried everywhere (for some reason; I guess in case we had to de-code a nasty VIN while we were in the bathroom or something) and a folded piece of paper with our notes for the day. Our nerd uniform would not be complete without it. Also – the shirts for the foremen were provided by GM. Available in the lovely pastels of the time (coral, blue, green, yellow) and, of course, white, they were emblazoned with the person’s name and the Chevrolet bowtie. I used to wear dad’s to high school. I thought I was so cool. The little "building inside the building" would be the production office or inspection office. There would be dozens scattered throughout the plant in the various build areas. In the production office the line foreman, general foreman and superintendent would have a desk and a place to hang his coat and put his lunch down. There was also usually a conference room for brief meetings before the shift started. The inspection office would be similar and additionally would be where the assembly manuals would be kept. Those little offices had their own heating and cooling, and so could be a brief respite from the cold or stifling heat of the plant floor, but were usually full of smoke (cigars, cigarettes and pipes). Everybody smoked; there was no escape from it. K

Re: factory 65 chevy assembly picture
I found this one interesting, a 60-63 (plant was built in 63, and this photo is from the construction) and this truck looks to have dual rear wheels and some sort of fender flare.....
pic is a little higher quality on oem's link---

Re: factory 65 chevy assembly picture
This is a picture during construction of the Fremont plant. I did a Google search and found all of the plant assembly pics as well as drawings and printed them out. I keep them in a binfer for my 65 Suburban to show at car shows. Nect to this pic I have one of this water tower laying on the grpund duting the demolition of part of the plant.

Noticed a pic I hadn't seen before on the above mentioned Fremont plant link.
