It's titled Classic Trucks (as in the mag) but once inside it's nothing but LMC ads.

First pic is the cover ...

It looks to be one of those 'eternal threads'... and the 69... well, it got put on hold for a short bit, but should be seeing more progress soon.

I bet you can't guess what I am going to recommend!

I would save up the money and avoid z-ing or sectioning the stock components. The amount of time involved in these mods and the headaches encountered therin should help in your decision.

Speaking based on my own project, plan it out well in advance. Figure out how low you want to go first. Then find out if you can afford to do it right and if you have the tools/skills required to do it.

It will cost you a chunk up front, but it will be cheaper to plan it out and get everything you need all at once.

Thanks, I was pretty fond of it too! (Still am ). That truck is how my business really got started... our first complete build. It started out as a 'build-to-sell' truck, then my uncle bought it half-way through and paid for its completion. I believe it's still sitting in his garage up in Utah... probably a whole ten miles on it since we delivered it last summer... 'too nice to drive' .

I know how tough it sometimes can be to get out there and drive it. Fortunately, you're in luck as my daily driver needs some down time for a planned LS2 swap. I'd be willing to drive your uncle's truck during that time so the lifters don't dry out.

Re: Dropmember in a 69 C10

thanks for the feedback guys!!!! as far as skill goes thats not a problem. Ive been a welder for many years and love doing it!!! but for tools i still need a few things.

its funny how most welders weld at work but never seem to invest in a welder for the home.lol!!!

soon i will be attending Wyotech in Laramie this April and hope to have time to slam my truck to the pavement while I'm there.

More on planning of my truck went under way in 2005. I rebuild a sbc 327, which i know is a small power plant then i want, but it will work for now. I backed it with a Camaro World class T-5 5 speed transmission and at the moment having my drive shafts built. and plan to put a posi rear end.

At least is a start and very proud of my truck. ill try to get some pics of my work in progress

"A question for porterbuilt"
what the price for a complete front end and what do you recommend for the rear suspension?

The front end runs $1200 for the crossmember, $225 for the rack and pinion (power unit... manual is $20 less), $270 for the steering linkage and joints (for some reason I think it's a bit less than $270... I will check my price sheet tomorrow and edit that if needed) $90 for the power steering lines, and $90 for the trans member. You can use your stock arms (the lower arm needs to be modified (slight trimming where it will mount up to the crossmember), or purchase some Strong Arms ($675). (These prices are board member's pricing and are a 10% discount from normal pricing).

The rear will depend on how low you want to get it. If you want the frame planted, I would recommend a four link. (I should have a 'bolt-on' four-link kit available for these trucks shortly... 'shortly' is open for interpretation!).
