Re: 1971 Cheyenne "One For the Road"
Friday I bought some 15x8 truck rallies from a guy in town for $30, they came with 3 caps and beauty rings. I spent Saturday changing wheels over. My brother and I went to a local park and snapped some new pictures. I think they turned out pretty good, Go Jazz
I have a short list of parts yet to buy, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

When you mean skill, I think more of enough guts to tear a truck apart and hope it comes back together. Or maybe I'm just plain crazy. But that's the fun. In seriousness, this truck has been a great learning experience. I've got a few more things to finish up on this one and in the spring I'm going to start a new one. It's going to be a lot newer with no rust.

I like your build a lot. I just bought a 72 Cheyenne LWB, and I hope to get started rebuilding it soon. What did your seats come out of?

What are you waiting for? Start that build thread! The seats are out of a '90 Acura Integra. They are temporary until I find new seats. Quote:

To this date I'm into this truck about $3,500 including the truck, not to mention the hundreds of hours of work (I should say fun). I haven't done much to the truck lately, but taken a few drives. I took my wife for a drive yesterday. I think she just enjoys spending time with me, but while I was in the process of building the truck she wasn't too happy about the time I was out in the garage. She understands that I need my projects and for that I am truly lucky, but she too questions my sanity. Thanks. What have you been tinkering on lately?

Re: 1971 Cheyenne "One For the Road"
This weekend I finally mounted the kick panels I made. I also realized that I haven't shown the interior since I installed the carpet. The carpet is for a 88-98 extra-cab Chevy so the fit is not the best. Because the carpet was so long I had enough to wrap up the back of the cab. The sun visors, headliner, rear view mirror, were painted with black Rust-oleum fabric & vinyl spray paint. The headliner trim is Dupli-color chrome, more like bright silver. I still need a new steering wheel, door steels, window seals, a/c balls, stereo, and find a new seat.

Re: 1971 Cheyenne "One For the Road"
your truck looks great, an excellent example of building a great looking and performing truck without spending a ton. I have a 93 chevy also and will be looking forward to you documenting that build as I am slowly resurrecting my 93 after it sat for 5 years with a blown motor.

Re: 1971 Cheyenne "One For the Road"
Thanks a lot. It's all in how you look at it, I don't think of it as work. I always turn on the radio to the oldies station, grab a Mtn Dew and I'm ready to go. The rust repairs car be intimidating, just make sure you measure twice and cut once. There are lots of helpful threads on this site. Good luck with your truck.

Re: 1971 Cheyenne "One For the Road"
Thanks guys. You guys might be sick of hearing it, but this build was a blast! I enjoyed almost every step in getting it to look like it does today.
I wish I had some progress to report, but I've got nothing. There are still a few things I need to do, but all in due time.
