Re: 1980 chevy long bed!

Im digging your build. Its giving me some Ideas for my low budget try to make a decent daily driver. I think the dash Bezel came out looking pretty good, the shifter.. Never thought of a socket. I think I'm going to use a blown up piston

Re: 1980 chevy long bed!

109 Pictures? Speaking of girlfriends and pictures haha Just kidding man. Im curious on how you filled them with metal.. An idea would be to make a cubby whole for cell phone, wallet, chew or whatever in the AC vent above the radio. Why did you take out your AC anyway?

Re: 1980 chevy long bed!

You should use barbeque pit paint from ace hardware or homodepo, It should last longer than any other header or engine paint and its a nice semi gloss black.

109 Pictures is NOTHING I have over 500 pics on my phone. If I find it interesting I take a picture of it. Actually a big help because I can snap some pics when I dissassemble stuff on my rig and then a month later when I get around to putting it back together I will remember how!

Re: 1980 chevy long bed!

Nooowww.. How I made the filler holes.

First I cut up little pieces off of a old tool box to fit the holes. I also made then a lil bigger so I got overlap them to glue them.

Heres them on the back and the tool box I used for metal.

Now I sanded them with a DA and painted them but it I just wasnt happy.. So I had some left over Griptape from I skateboarded (if you dont know what it is See the pic below. Its like black sand paper with a sticky side) and put it on there. I JB welded it on there and theres your patch! message with any questions and tell me what you think. I also am gonna put 3 toggles in the AC vent above the radio for Dome light, Front offroad lights when I get them, and my amp. Also gonna put a horn button on one by the wiper and light contols.

GripTape:

AC hole above the radio:

AC hole beside light and wiper contols:

Heres the whole Thing done:

Tell me what you think.

Also I took my headers off and Didnt break one single bolt! Very proud. lol Anyway sand blasting them tomorrow. Then some paint.. Black or silver you think?

Re: 1980 chevy long bed!

Well not having it is a good reason for getting rid of the rest of the stuff. The Dash came out looking really nice. Your motor all dressed up is looking good too. I also think the BBQ paint would be way better than any engine or header paint.. And black would be best. Silver would look like a ceramic poser... haha not sure how I came up with that
