Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

Nice to see you back Jebb.
Not having a spot to work on my truck during the winter makes me very envious of you guys in warmer climates.

Smile Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

Okay, I will keep working on this tonight but I couldn't wait to show off the side that is finished!

Drum roll please......

As you can see I painted over a little dust around the rivets that hold on the body mount. I still don't have an air compressor so I tried to blow it out with that spray can dust remover and it lacks a little kick. I am very pleased at how it turned out besides that. Here is a pic of where the other side is at. I hope to finish it tonight or tomorow. Then I get to start putting the power booster on and all that fun stuff. Thanks for checking in everyone.

Yes, my dad did the frame a long time ago. I am just cleaning it up some. The Camaro subframe was left full length and goes along under the truck frame. It is welded part of the way and bolted together at the very end of the Camaro frame aswell.

Thanks for the comments guys. I started playing with the brake system over the past few days. I was hoping I would have less problems than the guys with after market tranny mounts (mine still had the stock Camaro one) but no such luck. I am in bigger trouble than you guys were. I guess I will have to replace the tranny cross member and figure it out from there. Any ways it looks pretty nice. I would have gotten father but I got hung up on the tranny mount problem. After wasitng a few hours I just took mine out to test fit this stuff.

This will be the next guy to fix up this truck (after I have my fun with it). He is as attached already as I was when I was a kid. I learned about cars working on this old truck when I was a kid, now it's his turn.

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

Thanks to all who have visited and followed my project this far! I got a little done this weekend, first I have to tell you that I had decided to be a little lazy which is not like me. I checked under the valve covers and called it good on the motor. Then I decided Lazy is not me, so I disassembled some more this weekend and found all to be well with the motor. I have to say that I love Ford and Pontiac for those huge (leak proof) aluminum timing covers. Why do people paint them? They are aluminum and they sould be polished!!!

After some cleaning (still not done but I did get prety far!).

Thanks for asking! Were in a process of getting funds together and the ball should be rolling in about 3-4 weeks. I should have some progress to report then. Stay tuned!
