Sounds like here. Just when you get going, mother nature thinks you stink and offers you a shower.

Re: 1992 GMC Sierra K1500 Shortwide Z71 Conversion

Now....time for the solid giveaway.

Yes it's just an external wiring harness. But not just any. Out of a '94 Silverado. So that means back to my needle gauges, I've got my tach back...along with a few adjustments that I'm adding in. To start, she'll be getting the '94-up ABS system. And along with the heart transplant comes my new transmission.

Any of you who have done work, know exactly what this is. That plug, is 4L60-E.
SO. New specs for everyone.
Complete 94 conversion.
14-bolt 6-lug rear
New 4L60-E transmission.
Crate 5.7 TBI with 30K miles
94-up ABS system

And while I'm working on this I'll be posting to the crew cab build to show y'all what we've been hiding.

And for hopefully the LAST time...dash is out.

And since I'm going back to my original needle cluster, I'm gonna have fun.
Stripped the color on the needles.

I'm gonna replace the main cluster bulbs with red. Because I can.

It will come out just fine .You are doing a great job. You are my son and you are using your own hands to build a GM truck from the frame up for the second time because you can. There is nothing better than bilding your own Truck to get it the way you want it.

Re: 1992 GMC Sierra K1500 Shortwide Z71 Conversion

Thanks dad. I'm doing what I can, with what we have, with the time I have. No point in building it a second time if I'm not gonna do it how I want.

Re: 1992 GMC Sierra K1500 Shortwide Z71 Conversion

Haven't ever noticed that. But it does rub on my grille and make hood latching an issue. If I have the same problem with the new grille and core support, the bug shield will go.

Re: 1992 GMC Sierra K1500 Shortwide Z71 Conversion

Welp, here's the cab gut.
Seats out

In between...finally took off that irritating visor.

Also...some spoilers

Plastic off. Was actually the first time I'd ever done this the "proper" way.

And last...
WE DON'T NEED NO STINKIN' CARPET!

Here ya go. Y'all can settle for this for the next couple days.

Re: 1992 GMC Sierra K1500 Shortwide Z71 Conversion

Here's some tidbits for here and there:
My headlight harness creation

First, my '89 sealed beam headlight harness

And my '94 harness that was originally set up for composites and has the newer horn plugs

Put it all together and....'94 headlight harness now setup with sealed beams!

This was my best friend while yanking a dash.

Re: 1992 GMC Sierra K1500 Shortwide Z71 Conversion

Now then....this is gonna be fun. I'm going back to my needle cluster...well, I'm starting with my '90 dash face.

And here's the '93 dash face...I'm just gonna cut out the plug section and glue it in.

That all being said...HELLO '94 ECM!!

A few more uh, updates.
Brake pedal and switch from a '94

'94-up e-brake pedal

Now this...is the fun. Carpet and 4x4 shifter from an '02 Dodge Ram. I will be integrating the Dodge floor into mine; I'll be using the Dodge carpet and shifter, along with the Dodge power seats.

And last....my new spring stack. From a '98 3/4-ton.
