Re: 67-72 Time Capsules

What a great bunch! One day I’m going to sell all my trucks to buy one well preserved, grandpa style time capsule.

My baby. Around 50k miles. I am the second owner. I've had it for 20+ years. Lots of great memories with the kids!

Thanks IronCanine for posting the excellent examples of trucks that defy time. The green Longhorn is one of my favorites, I wouldn't change a thing!

Not easy, but I found a period photo of lockout hubs on a K 20

Kudos to you and Jocko for leaning into this thread to begin with...And to Joe and others for being serious about survivors. I love em best like they made em. Half a century is a long time and information and folks who know are inevitably lost. It makes it hard to restore a truck to original condition if you don't know or can't find out what that was. Some of the graybeards who posted a lot when I first started nosing around on this site and trying to learn aren't on here anymore.

..Luckily this site does a good job archiving knowledge. And there are many here who continue to carry the torch. But nothing is better than a really good pic of an honest original truck. The more, the better.

Re: 67-72 Time Capsules

This is the best thread ever! I love stock trucks. Mine has only 36K orig miles, but time has not been kind to it. Never driven much, but at least stored inside all these years. I started restoring it a few years ago and it is a real treasure. I love finding the 1969 date codes (It is a '70 delivered in fall of '69) on things like the heater core, starter, air cleaner etc. that are long gone on most trucks. A few pics before I started. 1970 K10 SWB 250 4 speed.

Nice base model 6 cyl 4spd K 10.. Original paperwork is also nice to have. Looks like the original owner needed snow removed for his business. You'll also find date codes on the back side of the upholstery.

Love this thread and that video. I actually took a screen grab of that video to exhaust shop back when we built the K10. It was one of several reference pics I used to try and get the exhaust tip as correct as possible.

Yes, these types of trucks back great reference material. It even has the 8 350 valve cover decal ( right side only ) used on '70 and '71.

Well...you know I'm all about that valve cover decal. It also has the red paint dot on the A/C heat exchange box. And... it has the larger zinc plated screws holding the fresh air vacuum switch instead of the smaller black phosphate coated ones.

With the YE on the firewall, and being delivered to New York...gonna guess and say it's a Baltimore built truck. Would love to know the build date.

Re: 67-72 Time Capsules

I think the interior of this C30 is worthy of this awesome thread. Everything you see in this photo is original except the brake controller and CB. Paint, vinyl, glass, etc.

Back when the steaming jungles and rainforests were teeming with whole herds of naive, gentle, wild Naugas. Now they're nearly extinct.
