Re: New member with a 1960
Excellent question, we have been using a formula of baking soda and water to neutralize the rust process, before clearing but I cannot answer that! the raw amount of clear coated rat rods in existence is surely some testament of how it could possibly stand up, on the other hand I haven't heard any complaints about anyone having to re-clear coat their rat rods..... LOL now I am wondering .....

Re: New member with a 1960
The rear suspension is buttoned up minus shocks, we are waiting on some double adjustable Strange coil overs, I am not sure if I should run the lowering springs without the coil over springs, or just run the springs on the coil overs.
Earlier I had asked for some ideas for heat/AC vents, I really don't like the looks of the plastic vents that screw to the bottom of the dash.... So we came up with the below idea....... The back side (in the door jamb) had to be cut out and a fitting fabricated to attach to the AC/Heat duct hose up in the dash, the jamb area will then be welded back and smoothed out before painting the jambs, for the center I had a spare door that was the same color and had already been clear coated so we used that metal from the door panel to build the vent housing!

Re: New member with a 1960
For those of you that have LS swapped your trucks, what are you using for a throttle pedal ?

Re: New member with a 1960
Thanks for all the compliments guys. I don't have any pics but the 1 piece power windows are now in and working! They were a bit of a pain but I think they will work fine for the longevity of the truck!
A friend put together a little video of the truck and progress. Click the link below! https://vimeo.com/187586186

Re: New member with a 1960
The only thing I didn't like is that they roll up crooked, not straight up and down like factory, that's the only way they will work correctly, it looks odd... very odd but works awesome!

Re: New member with a 1960
I was looking around at other 60-66 trucks this weekend online (day dreaming) and ran across a 66, LS swap, new engine, 4L80E, notched, bagged, nice interior, exterior is solid with new metal but needs paint, it includes a new front end that is not installed (which would allow you to drop it completely on the ground) it looks like it has a lot of nice parts and work done to it. I am really considering trading my 65 Olds 442 for it. I know I would be taking a loss financially as I have a TON of money in the 442 but...I've got truck fever right now... LOL

Re: New member with a 1960
Looks like my trade deal fell through on the Olds/C-10 trade ....
On another note we were having trouble finding a nice throttle cable bracket for the Apache build, so....Stephen at MDS Motorsports built one and handed it off to me for a little polishing, its been a while since I fired up the polisher......
