Re: My '87 SWB Project w/pics!!

I forgot to post these a while back. I received this from our very own Jeff Drew who runs the "brother" of this site 73-87.com..lol All I can say is high quality pieces and I will have the speaker and wiring cover powder coated polished ceramic. Time for me to tear down my original gauge cluster and use the brackets to install them instead of the hot glue. Thanks Jeff for the pkg deal.

Those brackets are nice. I have a set, and was really pleased with them.

JohnC - Yeah Jeff has some nice skills.

Gordonr1973 - I will post lots of pics that's for sure, I may get started on them on Christmas while playing Santa Clause.

JJAB - lol I sent you a text. I am definitely jealous of quite a few members here. My good friend I grew up with in Nacogodches (JMUCK) is doing some nice things. he is on the 67-72 truck and blazer forum mostly. Search his name when u get a chance. Thanks for all the compliments

Re: My '87 SWB Project w/pics!!

Okay gents here is a small update. We got the one rocker bolt hole helicoiled and bolted in. We also got the water pump installed, thermostat housing with new thermostat, the valve covers bolted down. We will get the crankshaft pulley locked down on hopefully Monday. I should be painting the throttle body silver sometime tonight or tomorrow. Not much progress but nevertheless making some. Here are a couple of pics. Enjoy!!

Jonboy - Thanks Boss

JohnC - Thanks for the compliments

franky69c10 - Thanks for the compliments. I am going to use in-tank fuel pump AC-Declo EP-381

I still have some touching up to do, I didn't bother wiping it down before I took the pics.

Re: My '87 SWB Project w/pics!!

Update - I know its not much but I got the crankshaft pulley and new bolt bolted up, the A/C bracket which I will not use I just thought that it would give the motor a more balanced look. I may remove it later but I'm not sure yet. I plan on running the kwik performance A/C relocation using the Sanden compressor. I like the way the compressor looks sitting up top. I also bolted up the intake with new gaskets, the power steering/alternator bracket along with the p/s pump and alternator. I touched up a few spots. Nothing major just thought I would share. I also painted the throttle body silver tonight and I will get it bolted on tomorrow if time permits. Enjoy!! Time to save some more $$$ and get the dirty dingo mounts, and my front suspension items in order to assemble the front end. I will keep everyone posted even if it's the smallest of things..

Re: My '87 SWB Project w/pics!!

Gordonr1973 - There is a local company here called alterstart and I took it to them and had them to take it apart for me and they marked the areas with a sharpie which not to powder coat. So I took the case to the guy that does my powder coating and they taped the areas off marked "no powder coat" and went from there. The inside of the casing never gets any powder coat. Afterwards I took it back to Alterstart were they reassembled and tested it for me. Hope this helps and thanks for the compliments.

Re: My '87 SWB Project w/pics!!

Update - Not much but thought I would share anyways. The Dirty Dingo's arrived today. They will either get rattle can silver or powder coated silver. I should have more parts within the next 2 weeks to bolt on the front suspension and install the rear disc brakes. Stay tuned!!

Looking good! I was wondering where you were at on this...i'm going to get going on mine hard when i get home in a few weeks --- I'm working in China for now and just paid $55 USD for a bacon cheese burger, fries & a coke made with BEEF, not mystery meat! :-)

Gordon1973 - Holy Moly!!! if you got the real beef I wonder what the hell have we been eating..lol Yeah the weather is easing up now so I need to get a lot done before the Texas Heat starts to roll in.

justpball - Thanks Boss I just hope it looks as good as those two beasts you have. Dude you have almost every man's dream. I am trying to knock mine out ASAP because I would love to have a square CCSB with a 6.0 or a CC dually with a 6.0 and I will be one happy camper.

I told the waiter the burger better not "bark" at me!! I'm trying not to think about what it might have been made of!

I really like the look of the DD mounts, but I'm surprised that more people don't use them b/c they are adjustable and that is the reason I bought them too --- anyways, please post lots of pics of the install when you do it!! especially of the way the original motor mounts are used (they seem to have notches on their sides)

Re: My '87 SWB Project w/pics!!

Just some more pics of parts. The motor mount inserts are backordered so I am waiting on them. The first pic has the tie rods, ball joints, control arm bushings, dust boot covers and tranny mount. The 2nd pic is the doetsch tech shocks for the front and the last pic is the dirty dingo LS mounts powdercoated silver. I am going to paint the tie rods either semi gloss black and the ball joints silver. I am about to order the edelbrock tie rod adjusting sleeves and that should complete the front end rebuild. I will pick up new front rotors and paint the vented area black just as Dennis did and then hopefully get the rear disc brakes put together. Hopefully I have some installation updates/pics as well. I am wanting the Coy's C-5 in chrome 20x10 with 5" backspacing for the rear and 20x8 up front with the knockoffs. I do see where they went up price since the fall. I am running out of options..lol
