Re: post your 67-72 4x4
Thanks!
My truck is a 1968 k20 with all original drivetrain, hd leaf springs all around, no lift, manual steering, brakes, etc. It has a factory Muncie 4 speed on the floor with the optional 327 and Rockwell 4 bbl and the optional side mount spare. I have tried to keep everything as original as possible with the exception of the fuel tank which was removed from the cab and replaced with an aluminum fuel cell installed under the bed behind the rear axle. I also replaced the lap belts with GM shoulder belts which were optional on the truck from the factory, and replaced the old step bumper with the chrome one in the photos. I have NOS 8.25 x 16.5 8 lug steel wheels (which were a factory option in 1968 for the camper specials) with 33 x 12.5 by 16.5 BFG All Terrain's. The truck runs great, had it out today. Out but not dead, can I see a pic of your shoulder belts? I have been dying to find a set of bright blue shoulder belts for years. Trevor

Re: post your 67-72 4x4
here is my '67 C-20 4WD...it is the CST model...am looking for an old Thomas camper to restore and put on it...this truck come's from the Colorado high country where I lived when found it...it was run a a few thousand miles a year since it was new by the original family as a camper truck...the climate here was very kind to it...this was an early production from '66...a few things changed by the model year end...the owners manual I got shows a few changes in the front hubs...however this machine "walks the dog " in 4WD...
I am trying to keep it as original as possible...but there is a serious temptation to paint it another color...first the slide in camper...then see how things are going...the original paint needs wax pretty often...rear cab mounts need replacing too...about a 1/2 -3/4" sag developed... it has 58,000 original miles...327/250 4 speed...squarejet carb...when I changed out the valve covers and oil bath, inside the engine was as clean as a whistle...my little time nachine!! I took off the split rims for regular use...changed out a few engine parts...better air filter, coil and had to rebuild the carb...other than that nothing... I have had a few other older chevs...but this one is by far the best of for me...took a year of pestering the owners to let it go...I drive it every day...t added a little after market stuff...but of course saved all the orig's...I am a very lucky guy I know...I looked a very long time for this one...hope to drive it the rest of my life...ted BTW some real nice lookin rides folks...lots of work there...but the result is priceless! Re: post your 67-72 4x4
Hello everyone. My name is Rod and I am new to the boards so I thought I would share a picture of my new truck. 1969 K10 Short bed. 350 Tuned port fuel injection, 700R4 with 370 gears. Drove it from Oregon to Wisconsin with no problems and got 15 MPG. Previous owner owned it for 30 years and it was well taken care of. Truck has been great and I am still learning things from the huge pile of receipts he included with the sale.
There are some things that I will be doing to the truck that will require some of the boards vast knowledge in these trucks. I thank you in advance for future help and I apologize in advance for any silly questions I know I will ask. |

Re: post your 67-72 4x4
Thanks for the kind words guys! It's a blast to drive. Top speed is about 45-50 mph. I'd love to lift her a few inches. Any thoughts? Power steering/brakes might be nice too!

This is my '72 GMC. It took me 3 years to buy this truck from my cousin but it was worth the wait.

Still needs tons of work but it is making progress.
I'm hoping to have it on the road again by the end of the summer.

Re: post your 67-72 4x4
It's got a 350 with factory a/c and factory bucket seats. It was restored about 15 years ago to as close to original as possible. I'm going to upgrade to electronic ignition and a few other things but it's just too nice to "mess" with too much. It also has the wooden floor in the bed. Never thought I would own one like it. Dreams do come true.
