Re: Lets see the survivor trucks! original paint only!

I have had this truck for over 15 years. Originally from Arkansas. Has not ever seen snow. Since I have owned it , has been in a heated garage and the 1st owner kept it under a car port. Yes the roads here are rough on vehicles.

Re: Lets see the survivor trucks! original paint only!

Here is a truck I pulled out of someone's yard right by my house. I later parted it out and saw it sitting in the junkyard...Almost cried. It wasn't as nice as it appears in the picture but it was in ok shape minus the inside roof was gone.

And here is a current one I own. The white has been re-sprayed but the ochre is original (or most of it that is). '72 Cheyenne Super 20 camper special with a 402.

Re: Lets see the survivor trucks! original paint only!

My 69 CST, mostly all original minus the floor shifter and engine... But I have the original engine. Paint is pretty much original except where some minor rust areas were fixed, not many just a few. It's true that these trucks are getting harder to find in original shape. I looked for over a year for a good short bed for the FIL. Every one that I located was a cut down long bed. Kinda like the long bed anyway cause it's very practical at times. I want to keep it original as possible. The prices are climbing on these series trucks. My FIL really likes this one despite being a long bed. I think that my next one will be a K10 or K20. But that's in the future sometime.. Enjoying this one now.

Re: Lets see the survivor trucks! original paint only!

Being as how I've never done this before,.. how do you get this polished patina look? Do you just buff it down and then wax it?

I don't know if you count all of these as survivors but they are all original paint trucks we have had.

Outside is still, original except for the white roof. Had to paint it due to a CB antenna being installed some time in the past

Is that the one that was on Ebay a few months ago? I really like that and you don't see a short bed utility box very often.
