Re: 58 GMC Project

I went back to the body shop today. They had all of the doors hung and the front clip on for checking the gaps. I let all of the air out of the front to see how see looked slammed. Here's the pics I took.

Re: 58 GMC Project

Nice truck! I wish my '55 Chevy was this far along .. I like where you put your battery as I definitely don't want mine on the firewall. I'm hoping to be able to do 2 of the long thin 5 gallon air tanks on the outside frame rails under the cab, seen it done before.

What size are your wheels and tires? They look good on it.

Oh and it should ride nice, my bagged 2000 rides real nice on air

Thanks becubed. I wanted to put the air tank outside the rails but the inside step does not leave any room. The wheels are 20X10 rear and 18X8 up front. The tires in the rear are 235/35 20, I dont remember what the front are.

Re: 58 GMC Project

I went back to the body shop to pick up my rear fenders so I can drill holes for the tail lights before he paints them. The guy that had my truck before painted inside the fenders. Here's the problem, the new body guy showed me the paint was soft. The first guy didn’t use any hardener in the paint. Man, I'm sure glade he's not working on my truck any more! Anyway I spent the day today putting together the new steel under dash stereo box along with my air gauge and switches. Let me tell you, a round hole, no problem. A square hole, that takes some time. Here’s a picture of the box, It's has a black wrinkle finish on it right now, but it will be painted the same color as the truck to match the dash.

Thanks Kabwe! I fell like I'm getting some progress. We had a local car show this weekend call the "Strawbarry Festival". I had planned for my truck to have been done and in the show, instead, I was just a spectator.
