Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Ran the block number on my "new" motor...found out its not 350. Its 305. Same size block different bore. But its OK, because the mechanic that sold it to me is a standup guy. Im gonna get my money back and return the motor.I had already cleaned and primed it.oh well, more money towards my 350.also cleaned and painted inside frame rails and partial firewall. Also cleaned and painted trans member and motor mount brackets.picked up grade 8 bolts to reinstall both. New motor mounts came in. Received my '72 service manual I had ordered online.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Getting ready to install the fuel pressure regulator, I went out and looked at the fuel pressure gauge. it wasn't at 15, the way it seemed to be pegged on the last start-up.
It was at around 9.5. Just sitting there. No electric fuel pump "on"....So, first I pulled the gauge. It *did* move. To 7.5...while it was off. No pressure. There is a screw at the back I figured was an adjusting screw. I adjusted it. No dice. Couldn't get another one today, so I installed the fuel pressure regulator, hard and soft lines. Screwed the fuel pressure gauge back in. Fixed a couple of trouble spots. I think it showed 12 when adjusted all the way out ("most clogged") while the ignition was on and the motor was not running. When I started it up, the gauge reads "9". Guess I better get a new gauge.

I could hear that all the way down here! Very nice. Guess I'm not the only one with a '72 tag in a hundred mile radius!

Washed the winters green slime off her, hopefully this year I'll get some time to do some serious work on getting her back on the road. Been accumulating parts for years now.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Got the intake bolted on, carb bolted on, cable bracket on, throttle and kickdown hooked up, and dizzy stabbed and set at TDC. Just need to change the oil, install the cap and wires, and toss some fuel in it so I can time it.
Also found the casting numbers on my heads. They are 14014416.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Took my instrument cluster apart, cleaned thoroughly, painted the needles, cleaned the lens with Mequiar's headlight kit, and painted the silver on the bezel. Not a perfect job as I'll more than likely get new gauges when the 6.0 goes in, but looks much better IMHO.

Re : I See Good Things !
THANK YOU for the engine and crankshaft photos ! .
Engine works are my favorite because it's always so easy . You might want to show better pix of the ' wiped ' bearing shells clearly showing the bare copper underlay ~ . I see this all the time and occasionally the crankshaft is O.K. and can be carefully polished with crocus cloth and re used , not this one I don't think . Never forget that ALL self service Junkyards are chock full of standard 350 cranks , cheaply . I may soon have an extra good used 292 crankshaft , I now have two 292's and will cherry pick parts to build up one nice one for my '69 C/10 , then I'll be clearing out lots of spare 292 stuff, a bare block that needs sleeves , a spare cylinder head , connecting rods and so on . I'm GREEN with envy looking at the cab repairs here ! I went and visited my truck again , still no work done . I know , I know , patience is a virtue but dammit , I DRIVE my truck daily so three weeks + is too long for no worky . .
