Re: My 57 Pro Street
Now on to something I have no experience in, the dreaded door gaps.
I'm starting with the passenger door as it is the worst one. I should have gotten a pick before I started but forgot. It actually rubbed the cab from the top of the window down to the cowell where it turned toward the fender. The rest of the gaps aren't that bad. I took a body file to it and got a decent gap. This sepperated the inner and outer skin so I had to weld it back together. Kim |

Sorry It has taken me so long to comment on your pictures. I have been saving them all lol in my picture file. This site is addictive and I am all over the place reading everybodies stuff and saving pictures. One day I was suppose to be in the garage and I was still on this site looking at everything.

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Kim everything is looking great! Heres a few things I've been running into. When you set your door alignments add some weight to the door about the same amount as your windows and hardwear. My door dropped after I installed my windows, and had to realign. Also if you have door rubber put it on and check door closing,I had trouble with my drivers door I needed to cut my rubber thinner so the door would close without pushing the door out. Keep up the good work!

Re: My 57 Pro Street
I say go for the curve up top and you can fix the door spacing while you do that. Its the little things that make it look awesome.

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Here you go Kim, I took this pic at a Brothers Truck Show about 4 years ago. I have a folder on my computer for all the mods I like.

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Well I bit the bullet and rounded off the rear of the door at the top.
I had to make a template because of the shape of the door. A little cutting and bending and I had something to use so I could make sure both doors matched. I was able to use the outer piece to make the filler pieces for the cab. |

Re: My 57 Pro Street
A little more cutting, bending and welding and it starts to come together.

Re: My 57 Pro Street
That looks very nice Kim. In reference to the piece being welded in the 4th picture of thread post #247, how did you grind or smooth out the T weld that attatches it to the inner pillar? I ask because I trimmed my drip rail and the filler peice needed is basically the same type of joint and location and the weld is very hard to get to with a grinder.

It's a pain in the tight spots. I use a small disc on an air grinder. As the disc wears I can get them into the tighter spots. They don't last very long but they do the job. Hope this helps. Kim |
