Re: '72 C/10 Custom Cruiser Project

The new wheels. Steelies! 15x6 in the front and 15x8 in the back. I had to go with the new wheels because the rallies were 8's all the way around and I was having rubbing issues in the front because of the drop spindles. I'm running bullet center caps and bullet lugs.

Then the bed went back on

Re: '72 C/10 Custom Cruiser Project

I found your thread from another build. I like what you have done with your truck. I have a 1970 longbed and I plan on doing air ride soon. I already have belltech drop spindles in the front, cnotched the rear, relocated the shocks, drop crossmember, lowering blocks and drop springs so I'm ready for bags. My question to you is your are running 6" wheels in the front with 235/75 do you have issues with rubbing the fender wells? When aired out do the tires touch the wells? I want to run cragar delux 69 wheels 6" in front and 8" in the rear with the same tire sizes you have. Thanks

Thank you! i do not have rubbing issues if i air the front up enough, so i do keep the front high enough so it doesn't. the tires do touch the inner wells when aired out, they are stuffed hard in there.

Re: '72 C/10 Custom Cruiser Project

So lets go in chronological order.

The last pics were from sometime in the winder of 2013-2014.

Jan 2014-Aug 2014.

Not a whole lot happened to the truck in this time. I graduated college with an associates degree in automotive technical services. less then a week later i began working at a local repair shop. that gig lasted only two months as i realized that i didn't want to work on cars for a living. Lots of stress and headaches during this time which resulted in not much work on the truck. it was unfortunate but such is life.

i guess these are the only two pics worth sharing during this time.

a nice areal shot

and i got first in the bagged full size class at a show i went to.

Re: '72 C/10 Custom Cruiser Project

That brings us to an exciting chapter. PAINT! finally!

Sept 2014.

everything went relatively smooth with the paint. the guys knocked it out pretty quickly and i got it back home ready to re-assemble.

it only took about a days worth of work to put the exterior back together, theres not too much to put on. Finally, a mostly assembled and PAINTED truck! photo shoot time

Re: '72 C/10 Custom Cruiser Project

And then the winder came, and, big surprise! the truck went to storage and nothing was done.

Nov 2014- April 2015

Nothing!

May 2015

After a considerable time of un employment i began working at a local precast concrete compay specializing in burial vaults. Now i had cash-flow to do some stuff.

I took it out to the first cruse in of the year! i mostly just drove it and showed it in the spring

During that winter, though, there was big things happening. my parents decided to build a garage! Yes! somewhere to work on the old girl.

Footing

foundation

metal skeleton

walls

building complete. it took two guys about two weeks to erect the whole thing

Roomy!

Re: '72 C/10 Custom Cruiser Project

Sept 2015- present.

With some garage space to work with, i dressed up the old girl with some bling. a new set of lower molding and some badges and she's looking pretty spiffy.

also a nice set of white vinyl chevy letters to make the tailgate pop.

Re: '72 C/10 Custom Cruiser Project

Sorry for the cliff notes update, i slacked on taking step by step photos of the work and there wasn't a whole lot of stuff done in the last year in a half.Big mile stones, but not a lot. I'm very happy with where it has come so far and i plan to make improvements and continue to work on her till everything is "done"

lol, yeah, life got busy there for a while but I do want to keep this thread somewhat up to date!

Speaking of improvements, id say a lift would fall under that category.

Its not the best pic of the lift itself but it'll do. the garage is starting to fill up with all the toys.

Re: '72 C/10 Custom Cruiser Project

Also, due to some unfortunate circumstances, my Subaru winter beast won't be seeing any more road time.

Sooo, a replacement is in order. Now its not the snow machine AWD that the Subaru brought to the table but it is a spacious American(ish) sedan and thats just fine by me.

Heres my 2008 Pontiac G8. only 50k on the clock which made it irresistible
