Re: pictures of shortbox stepsides

Guys I gotta tell ya...as many cars as I have done over the past few years, I have gone through my tire and wheel guy every time and he keeps reminding me as to why NOT to go staggered....going 18/20 or 19/20 is such an expense on tires and not easy to find a matching setup that will look good. Gotta remember that staggereds are on performance street cars like vettes and camaros........and their not cheap to replace when needed. (I have owned 4 corvettes)

Re: pictures of shortbox stepsides

Here's my orange C/10 Stepside. Been running it since June '73 -- 3 months short of 40 years. Original 516 Orange with desert patina. Factory stance -- sort of. Lotta miles, Lotta good times. Freshly rebuilt 292 in '05. Would've posted years earlier, but I just got high speed. On the old dial up it took 45 minutes to upload one jpeg!
Looks like it still takes a long time.

Re: pictures of shortbox stepsides

Appreciate the kind words guys.

502MS, really dig your truck. Been reading up on your build thread over the last few days. You've inspired me to try out some trim rings on my steelies. Eventually trying to get a similar stance to what you have. I'm bagged on stock suspension at the moment, but have some drop spindles coming to me. After I wrap up the front, then I'll be notching the rear.

Sharp looking stepsides in this thread!!

Here is my 68 fresh off a wash after a big memorial beach weekend! The ece 4/6 drop rode great on the highway even with 300+ pounds of band equipment. Still trying to work through a few vintage air a/c issues but survived the Florida heat.

Re: pictures of shortbox stepsides

I was flippin' through some pics tonight and saw this truck. Can anyone tell me or at least ball park the size tires that's on this truck? I thought at first they may be a 275/60, but they look wider and lower profile than the 275.

I'm guessing around a 295/50??

Re: pictures of shortbox stepsides

I've been working through a couple of ac problems with the installer. One is a noisy compressor which was replaced with a 7 piston unit that helped a small amount. The other issue is a freeze up after 30 minutes on the highway. Vintage air seemed to already be aware of the noise issue and replaced the 5 piston unit. Not really sure how an ls swap motor makes any difference but there is a definite resonance around 1600 (right at highway cruise speed)rpm that honks loudly in the interior after a few minutes. VA is now going to replace the expansion valve and condenser next.. From the reviews I have read the sure fit kit seemed to be a no brainer for our c10 but this has certainly not been my experience so far.
