Re: Attempting the "$50 paint job"

It's just Rustoleum protective enamal. Wal-mart and Home Depot and Lowes all carry basic colors like Black and White, some have red and almond. A small local paint store carried quarts of all the colors.

Re: Attempting the "$50 paint job"

Lowes/Home Depot refused to tint it for me, might have to find a small paint store. Although you're not supposed to shake enamal cause It'll bubble for weeks.

Honda S2000 seats.

So I have a standing offer for my truck of $4250....that sound fair to everyone? That's probably around what I got in it, but I'm needing a car with better gas mileage now that I'm losing my job.

Re: Attempting the "$50 paint job"

If anyone lives in Tuscaloosa be on the look out for my truck running around down there. Gentleman bought it during the UT/Alabama game.
This will be my new toy for a while. Gonna look specifically for a SWB, 1980, 4x4, 4-speed Chevy after I start my new job.

Sweet just read threw a couple pages and skipped here.. that paint turned out good.. so you like C5's? You'd probably like my uncle's C5 , 2002 aluminum block ls1, fully built top end, cam, headers, full exhaust, custom tune, and all stock on the outside, he said when anything happens to him its mine! I can NOT wait!

Re: Attempting the "$50 paint job"

I didn't remove it, the first stuff I put on didn't work so well so I hit it with some 80grit sandpaper just to knock out the lose stuff then rolled the new stuff on.

Re: Attempting the "$50 paint job"

I've read this thread a few times over and was wondering what your overall thought was with the paint job, I'm thinking about this myself but am not quite sure yet. Thanks for the help

Re: Attempting the "$50 paint job"

Painting it this way is a TON of work, the end result vs price is worth it if your just wanting a daily driver quality truck that you don't care about getting scratched up off road. I just found out today the motors blown in my new truck, water froze in the block. I'm hoping I can get a new block and just swap out all my internals and H/C/I

Re: Attempting the "$50 paint job"

Wow Im definietly going to do this in my driveway when it gets warmer. Now most of you wet sanded in between coats to get rid of any orange peel, bugs, dirt in the paint correct?

Yes, after every 2 coats I wet sanded with progressively finer grit.

I like that idea posted above me, I might have to try that method this time.

Re: Attempting the "$50 paint job"

For the pretty minimal additional cost, it does seem worth a try. I really want to buy a truck on cl that is in good shape but has crappy paint, and try painting it with this stuff and see how it turns out beer I use it on my truck.

Re: Attempting the "$50 paint job"

There are 30 colors. So probably more than rustoleum? And you can get metallics.
