Hmm, that is a good idea, maybe it will make the poly a little more rigid and will stop it from gripping on the metal. I have a freezer here at work

Re: Project: "Home Grown"

Or I just leave the damn things black, the cross member will be a charcoal, and so will the spindles, the arms could be black along with the frame. So it will kinda flow decent. Any thoughts?

I just don't want to destroy these arms to only for powder, plus I would save a few bucks not needing to powder them

Me too.. (leave them black) Sorry to hear that the arms are a PITA.. I didn't realize that they were so difficult to tear down.

Not your fault man! I bet I can still get em apart, just don't want to make it a nightmare, besides once inner fenders are installed, who will really notice the arms anyways?

Re: Project: "Home Grown"

We didn't care about the bushings or the shafts in our case, as they weren't going to be re-used in our application. It was a bit of work. One of the bushings didn't survive. And we ended up cutting the cross-shaft in pieces on the second arm to save time.

I would recommend to leave them as is, rather than risk damaging something that they aren't "currently" building anymore. Black will flow just fine with the chassis.

Yeah, I think it makes most sense, I will rock these until the next itch when I go for a drop member, at that point I will just get your arms, and with the correct wheel centering Now to just get that damn lower ball joint out, but I bet that will be easier! Although still hard.

What is everyone's favorite brand to use for ball-joints? I was thinking of using Moog.

Re: Project: "Home Grown"

I just got off the phone with Napa, they sell Dana Spicer brands, he tells me that their ball joints use polyurethane and not rubber, did some googling and it would appear that a lot of folks out there do like their products and swear by them. I think I may just roll with them.

Re: Project: "Home Grown"

Bidding on a Posi Unit today, hopefully I can get it for a decent price, then just sell the open carrier from the donor truck's rear end

On a ****tier side note, my new 300 dollar Canon Camera has come up missing since last weekend at my shop, so no more high res pics I'm super bummed, I don't even want to believe someone I work with would take it, but it sure as hell didn't walk away!

Re: Project: "Home Grown"

I won the auction on that Posi Unit! Woot, snagged it for 177.50, not too bad, I saw an open carrier go for like 210 earlier this week.
