Re: 72 K20 Cheyenne Super Build

Pete, it is looking really nice. Sometime after I get my truck on the road, I'm going to get a glove box and gauge bezel from The Cheyene Shop. From everything I've seen he does the best matches out there.

Will do! It's a really, really nice genuine 71 Super door - not a spot of surface rust and just a few tiny woodgrain scratches. I couldn't bring myself to pry off the applique.

Thanks! I'm pleased with his GB applique - CSM did the cluster bezel as well so the woodgrain on the dash matches. Not sure how these will match the door woodgrain but we will see.

Thanks! For the rebuild it's a year this month and I hope it'll be done in, say, a month. That said, I scrounged parts for a year before starting the rebuild. I want to wrap it up because I keep finding little things to tweak here and there (like the phosphate coating) while it's sitting in the shop. It's a sickness....

Thanks! That plating is a good way to go and is OEM for a lot of parts like bolts and door striker plates - it's also economical.

It looks amazing! Where did you get a seal kit for an OE type slider? I was in mine the other day and saw day light in one of the seals and thought, oh great.

Thanks man! For the slider build see my thread here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=559651

I'll update that here in the next few days and would be glad to help you get yours redone. It's not bad - vent windows are worse. The seals for the window panes required slight trimming to fit into their attachment grooves and I was handed enough scrap weatherstipping at a local commercial dealer to get this one done. Just today bolted it all together and am letting the silicone set. The frames has a few scratches but is decent overall.

Killer truck Pete! I need to get in gear on my 72 after seeing how nice they can be!
The Harrison radiator is on its way to you, hope its useable and can end up in this truck at some point.

Thanks Jud!!! When poss PM the final cost so I can square up. I have my fingers crossed your radiator will work - the other two weren't rebuildable as I mentioned. When it arrives I'll take it right over to the rad shop...

No problem Pete! It might not even need a new core. If they say its not rebuildable, I'd get a second opinion. I couldn't see any corrosion, just some light scale inside.

Re: 72 K20 Cheyenne Super Build

wow, this is one of the nicest builds i've seen... I had a chance to buy an all original 72, K-20 Super from a co-worker and didn't jump on it. He sold it, years later bought it back and will never think of selling it again I bet.

Mind if I move this thread to the 4x4 build section?

Thanks for the compliment! It's been a big effort for sure. I've not been lucky enough to get back any of the vehicles I've regretted selling.

As for moving - Thanks for asking. I view the 4x4 build section as more for off road modified builds of a variety of years rather than specific for 67-72 though I know of a few exceptions. The community here is better suited to critique and facilitate my efforts since my build is basically stock. I'd prefer to leave it here with its 67-72 kin if possible.

Thanks bud! Waiting on just a few tweaks to the Blazer before posting pics. I did get it registered in NM with a truck specific turquoise NM plate stamped 71.

LOL! It's running and the mirrors, windshield, rebuilt rear slider window, front bumper, and steelies are on but we are waiting on an AC condenser. Once the AC is a go the parchment panels, seats, and console will get bolted in place. Soooo close it's killing me!!!! BTW- I may be up in Durango in 4 weeks...will keep you posted.
