Interesting, and you sure have got my attention. How did it work out that you have Spoke Wheels on one side and Budd Wheels on the other??

Don't sweat the the little stuff Bill, just paint the right side of the truck white and the left side black, then people would think you had 2 trucks, not just one.

By the way, the 5.9 and 545 looks good in there, look how easy it is to work on. Why can't they all be that simple.

I changed the front and rear axles. I actually bought a 97 model school bus that had 71k miles for a donor. The only thing orginal to the truck now is the cab, framerails, and front springs. It now has the reyco air ride setup from the school bus under the rear and the front axle from it.

The parts for your Doors should all work with no problem. Check with your local "real" parts store or NAPA for Brake Parts. Check with your local Heavy Fleet Truck store for 2-Speed Selector parts. Either store could also have both parts available.

If you are still having problems finding parts, there is a guy over at Stovebolt.com who is real good at finding some harder to find parts. He also has a lot of books to look up what's available. If you go over there go to the Big Bolt section.

i wonder if you be able to find sumtin using the hollander interchange manual , i bet these springs are used on more than one vehicle , if youre alowed behind the counter at a partsstore you might allso be able to fisicly find suitable springs in their stock using the old ones to compare

The Hollander Interchange Manuals are great books. I have 4 of them. But the problem is that they only show big parts and/or popular parts. There are 100's and 100's of small parts that are not listed. Brake Springs would be one of them.

Re: "BIG" truck forum C/40, C/50, C/60 and the like...

i wonder if anyone ever tried to build one with a srw bed and used a set of front arches to make it wider , i seen a few of them made like the one youre having
maibe sectioning the rearfenderflares 3 to 4 inches so the distance between the arch and the top of the rearflares are about equal to the front flares would improve the look
i suck at photoshop so i tried it in paint

Re: "BIG" truck forum C/40, C/50, C/60 and the like...

I have really enjoyed all the trucks in this thread. Thanks.
Edit- sorry, I have a ford. I didnt realize this was a Chevy Gmc thread. I would rather have a Chevy.

This is my first but I dont think it will be my last. I just happened to come up with this truck (I originally got it for the Cummins in it) but now I'm hooked. I want to build an older one.

Welcome to Heavy Haulers maddddog!

Chevy, GMC, Ford, Dodge or whatever... I think a most of us truely appreciate any great truck!
I think it would be cool to see you start a build thread in the Alternate Tinkerings forum so we can follow your progress.

That's going to be one slinky beast for sure!
