I saw the sweatshirt but we dont know if he was wearing something over it or not because he didnt say which is why I asked.
Some people actually wear safety equipment like leather aprons and sleaves, so you dont know unless you ask.

a little flesh wound....I "WAS" trying to be safe but just no room...I had impact gloves on, a face shield AND safey glasses, and they didn't help one bit

Im just glad you are ok those tools are extremely dangerous.
After my accident it dawned on me that if my power tool actually had a guard on it I would have never got injured in the first place, unfortunately the guard broke off and I never replaced it, so the whole thing is actually my fault for not replacing the guard so lesson learned I will be replacing the guard before I use that tool again because without the guard it is potentialy a life threatening tool.

i go through a ton of cut off blades and the Dewalt ones are the only ones that dont just shatter on me ? usually 1.99 apiece

Well...using. 6" cut off wheel on a 4 1/2" grinder....the guard won't fit

Plus, the way this kicked back the gaurd wouldn't have helped....it only moved a few inches....but that was enough to grab my shirt and suck the tool to my skin as it ate up my shirt....

This didn't shatter...the breakage is from it hitting the pavement as I pivoted away from it as it grabbed my shirt...

Never had one shatter on me....and these are the hf ones....used a ton w/ no issues


Lesson is don't use a 6" wheel on a 4 1/2" grinder....there isn't much area to hold onto the tool and when under a truck holding it at an awkward angle....it's a recipe for disaster...

I think I'm going to try a sawzall to finish this cut and the one on top....

iv had wire wheels on angle grinders get caught in my clothes a couple of times, thats alway fun

Overall got a decent amount done...

The crossmember is high on priorities but just foundd out the cpp one I paid for on the 24th just shipped so I won't have it till oct 3rd supposedly? Better late than never....as long as it shows up and is complete...

The interior painting is complete. Actually started re-assembly. Put down some old, leftover dynamat but it's not sticking great so I'm going to add some adhesive to the looser pieces....put the foam mat backer and rubber mat. I cleaned it up but it still had a brown/grey hue...so I got some trim/bumper paint and sprayed it and it looks like new. Without the one tear in it this thing looks awesome!

Also painted the back cab wall and the gas tank semi-gloss black. Yes, it's overkill...but it took less than one can of rustoleum and there were some areas of surface rust on the back cab wall....and since the seat back folds forward....I wanted the gas tank to look good if I folded down the seat.

Thanks, definitely won't have everything I want done in time for the board meet, but doing those things now that would mean double the work later....

I hear ya, but hell I bet you get it done with time to spare and have time for extra stuff you didnt think you would get to and and end up being happy with the progress by the time the meet happens.
I wish I could go but my truck wont be done by then, I'm hoping I can go to one in another 6 months or so.

Just got home from Jersey. Almost ready to drop in that motor and trans? Did you order a trans crossmember? I'm sure you have a small pile of driveshafts but do you have one you know will fit? How about a battery?

It's cool....got it for $10 on clearance...the full size version was like 190...

It's a big flourescent and wobbles without falling so it's perfect for work areas....also has a plug I can plug any tool into right where the light is so it's ideal...

Crossmember ordered early last week and just shipped from cali today
I have the driveshaft the po said he used w/ a 350/350 combo as well as another supposedly set up for that and a few more sizes including 2pc if needed...
I have a battery....need to make sure it's still good....will put it on the battery charger/conditioner and see. Had my alt checked out before painting it. Have an almost new starter. Planning to pick up antifreeze and trans fluid tomorrow or sun....already have oil...
Got my flywheel, torque converter, and fuel pump/rod out ready to go....will finish cleaning gasket areas and bolting last items to the block and checking to make sure I have all the bolts for bolting the brackets to the engine.

Got my rag joint in yesterday (larger to fit the 73 up box (better turning ratio) I have). My restored van tilt came in today...will check it out tomorrow and take pictures.

Found the harness from my 70. Set up for full gauges and every light/switch worked when I took it out a few months ago...going to clean that up and install tomorrow. Also plan to install the gas tank.

Saddle upholstery parts are on order and in production...

Trying to decide on manual air valves or accuair elevel. (can get a great deal but still pricey...)
