Re: Whats up with Logan...
Gotchya t.j. hah. I was saying that in the sense that is u mentioned hvlp to a normal kid. At least in my neck of the woods they would have a clue what that stood for. They'd think it's a drug or Something.

Fewf. I have lost a lot of hope In humanity by seeing the kids now a days that are around my town. I know there's good kids still...just fewer...to much instant gratification in today's society.

Re: Whats up with Logan...
Kid's today don't have the same upbringing we did. They really aren't taught much. Funny story. Had a kid (22 ish) come into the Advance Auto store I work at. Said he has something leaking down onto his floorboard around his gas pedal. So went out and looked. Told him it was melted snow off his shoes. But give him an I Phone and he could dazzle you with it I'll bet.

Not infront of a tv or an Xbox. funny story. had a buddy help me with my 65 the other day. Asked for a socket wrench. And he hands me channel locks.....I didn't say anything..just made the best of the situation. Oh well. I'm still thankfull for what I got.

Re: Whats up with Logan...
Hey y'all, just wanted to update...Logan and I found a donor truck for the suspension parts and whatever else we can use...Half ton V6. Was out in my step dads back forty all this time. In my defense, I did ask about it a while back and I could have sworn he said it was an 89. Went over for a visit a couple weeks ago and I asked him again, it's an 85 and got it for $300. Now with all the flooding in our area, might be a while before we can drag it out.

Awesome to see this. I cant say anything that hasnt already be said really.
Other than maybe, this project at this age will teach him far more than howe to build a truck. Your son will likely gain huge life lessons at an early age from building this old truck. Great job to you and your son!

Re: Whats up with Logan...
Well being a former Michigander I would like to welcome you to the Great State of Texas. Have been here for about 15 years now. Nice looking truck and Logan has made the correct decision to go for the truck. Nothing like cruising the Hill Country in a 1966 pickup.
Or cruising anywhere for that matter. Only thing about Texas is it does get hot here. Michigan sounds pretty good in July and August. What part of Michigan are you from. I used to live in the Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo area. Allegan to be correct, born in Fennville which is a nice "Nice Small Town" and was a great place to grow up. Welcome to the Forum. |

Re: Whats up with Logan...
So Logan got his permit last week and ended up going to a buddy's house (Thursday) till yesterday (Tuesday). He was picked up Tuesday morning and went with a friend of mine to do some work. I picked him up afterwards and took him out to get burgers. He showed me his permit picture and I realized, he can drive now. As we left, I walked to the passenger door and Logan was like, what are you doing, I said, you're driving...lol...He was like, DAD!...lol....He drove us home, he did great. We took the long way home so he drove about 2 hours...

Re: Whats up with Logan...
Hey it's Logans dad Paul....Just an update...
Logan is at it again. I'm trying not to let it overwhelm him, but its so much work...He has pulled, cleaned and painted the front and rear suspension from the 85 parts truck. The other night we were able to get the front bolted to his 66 frame. Now hes looking for a set of wheels and tires. He looked ups some 17s and 18s at Discounttire.com and was shocked at the cost...At close to a grand, thats a ton for a 16 year old... Here are some recent pictures... |

Re: Whats up with Logan...
I will donate the tires in 17 inch. I have 235/40/17 directional and 275/45/17 for the rear. you need 8 inch rims 10 for the rear would be better but it will roll a bit with a 8 inch. so a set of four tires with less than 500 miles on them the fronts are mint the rear as worn down by 1/4 .. sorry but they would never hook the power. The only issue you have to come get them as shipping would be pricey. Unless I can get out that way I can drop them to you ..
Look into the steel ralleys that jegs or summit sells just an option for lower cost. Paul the number I have no longer works

Re: Whats up with Logan...
Updates look good. Logan has been getting after it.
Steve - Props to you for donating the tires for his project. Paul / Logan - Go see Patrick Krauskopf at 7 Day Tire and Wheel, 101 Jack Nixon Road, Fredericksburg, TX 78624. 830-997-7475. He might have some used wheels or even could find you some. Patrick is my cousin, tell him Karl Kuenemann sent you out there. Hopefully one of this time I come down there, we could meet up and have a look at Logan's truck.

Re: Whats up with Logan...
As you can see I swapped over to a sticky tire and went tall in the front.. Silly TX and city driving the train tracks took out one lower control arm so I swapped out for tublar units and installed a taller front tire to gain some room
