Who did you buy the mirrors from?
I have heard them called "Carolina mirrors" I'm assuming they are the same thing, just different brands have different lingo. |

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
After all that fuss with my peep mirror I finally got the drivers side one all line up and it works ok. The pass one I can't see out of for the life of me though.
I thought california mirrors where those trucker mirrors, the long verticle ones. Def too much lingo out there I guess or I'm just not paying attention. It's nice when you finally get all the pedals hooked up, feels like things are really coming together. Sux though how much room you loose under there though with some mixed matched set ups. I like how my stuff functions but it is a pain to get under there and route wires and get behind the gauges. Not complaining but I think I might try some aftermarket stuff on the next one.

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
I got the mirrors off ebay from a place called speed pro performance. I got them for under 50 bucks, shipped. Im not sure what they are actually called. I have always called them california sport mirrors. I think that the long vertical ones with the large brackets are called western mirrors. Who knows.... I have seen them called all kinds of stuff. I call them cool!!! The best thing is that they are fully functional. I might remount them a bit higer on the door. The pax side is a little low. I agree with the brake/gas pedal setup. Next time I think that i will go with a frame mounted master cylinder for the brakes and an aftermarket gas pedal. This will do on this build cuz it was free with the S10.

Hey Vintage,
Here are a few pics. Not sure if this is what your looking for, if not let me know and I can take some more. The first one is the linkage at the carb and the second one is the mounting clip at the firewall, just under the coil. Hope this helps brian

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
perfect! What part is that off of that holds the throttle cable? Is that an s10 part?
Are you going to the southern truck nationals in white house mid-July? I'm trying to have mine drivable by then, I know it will still be in progress, but I'd like to get it on the road. It has been close to a year since it has moved under it's own power. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
Vintage,
Not sure exactly what part your talking about. I can tell you that the linkage is all s10 and the bracketry is all stock 350 parts. I havent really given much thought about the southern nationals. Im looking for a good show to hit up around that time....so I might come down. Its about a 4 hour drive for me. Im deciding between that and Goodguys in Columbus OH. Its only about 2 hours drive.

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
Bracketry is what I was looking at. So it's stock 350 for the bracket that holds the throttle linkage and carb throttle spring.

Yep, all stock brackets. You must be getting close to having yours on the road.

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
It is getting closer. Power steering pump is fighting the whole way! Finding hoses that work and brackets are being a pain. Fuel lines are still not done, nor is the electric pump, wiring needs attention, but it is getting there.

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
Hey Vintage,
I am running a stock kickdown. If you look really close, it is attached to the bottom end of the butterfly on the carb. It runs just behind the large return spring. I have only moved the truck around in the driveway a handful of times. I did run it around my neighborhood for a few minutes but never got up enough speed to have the tranny shift. I didnt have my fan hooked up so I did want to get the motor to hot.

Vintage,
I dont have a pic of mine. I can get one if you need. I did find one few online though. Check it out and let me know if you still need something. http://www3.telus.net/public/djs67/m..._cable_cut.jpg In the pic, its the one that says cut here (not sure why it says that or why you would cut your kickdown).

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
Vintage,
You can use hard brake lines as fuel lines but you should never use fuel lines for brake lines. Brakes require much more pressure to work so brake lines are built much heftier to handle the higher pressure. Using hard brake lines for fuel lines is fine because of the low pressure required to operate either style fuel pumps. I picked a cheap bender from harbor freight for less than 10 bucks...and I think the 3 seperate size line were less than 20 bucks total.....and the 3 bucks for the jb weld.

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
I was wondering if brake lines would be suitable. good deal. off work thursday and friday and very hopeful to have the truck driving around the neighborhood. plenty left to do to make it streetable, but man I can't wait to clear this hurdle!

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
do you have have the front clip on the truck with the radiator and fan setup? I have yet another pic request. A shot straight down right behind the grill, capturing the fan/radiator setup and backside of the grill. I'm having clearance issues. No massive rush, I'm still working on gauges, fuel stuff, wiring and building a trans tunnel. But I know that is the next problem area.

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
If you're running a 700r4, that's the TV cable and NOT a kickdown. Make sure you have it adjusted right or you'll smoke the transmission! Looking good!

Mines a turbo 350, but I have been reading and some say you can use one and some say you don't need one...

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap
what did you do for a lower radiator hose? I bought one of those universal hoses, but there are some decent kinks in it that I just wouldn't trust on a real drive.
