Re: Sold American!
That guy's selling what I've been buying. Nice to have a one stop. Local apple butter is one thing, but I clicked on "tools" and found "There are no products for this collection". This guy needs stock! He needs help from the manufacturers!

Re: Sold American!
Before I retired from the Boeing Co. I used a lot of PPE equipment in the way of gloves, eye protection, ear plugs, ear muffs around jet engines, safety harnesses for working heights, etc. Being a crane operator safety was always an issue and handling slings, chains, heavy shackles and such we went thru gloves rather quickly. I found myself needing a new pair of gloves and went to the tool crib for a new pair. The ones I had were pretty worn and beat. The crib attendant handed me a new pair as I handed over the old pair which was a requirement at the time. As I walked out the door to my truck I looked at the brand. Don't recall the brand but I do recall seeing the words "Product of Viet Nam" on the packaging. Being a Viet Nam vet my first reaction was Uh, Uh, NO DAMN WAY. Walked right back in the crib, tossed them on the counter and told the attendant I wanted my old gloves back. I knew they were US made for sure and most likely would still hold up better than the new crap he gave me.

Re: Sold American!
The glove pics got me thinking.
I always ask for gloves and such at holidays. It makes it easy for my family and I get something I can use. I started looking at the gloves in my shop today and every pair in there was made in China. I guess I will have to add the Made In America qualification to my gift list.

Re: Sold American!
If I end up getting a pair of foreign made gloves because I need them right now, I now have a pair of throw-aways. I use those to save my USA ones on crappy stuff

Re: Sold American!
North Star has many different glove options. I unsuccessfully tried find a retailer that sold the gauntlet version of the depicted glove for the added coverage as I recently cut my forearms up good pulling raspberry and other thorny brush. To order direct I'd need a lot of a dozen.

Re: Sold American!
I collected a bunch of diecast vehicle coin banks in the '80s & '90s. Yes, I bought more than I should have. One day they were going crazy, next thing nobody wants them for any money. I was selling some at a flea market where I knew people would buy them if they were cheap. Did pretty good. But what I notices looking at the dates and where they were made, it was right when this China-made stuff was getting going. Some were China but many were still made in Iowa. There were a few from Mexico and others that were combined between three countries between parts, printing, packaging, and assembly. I weeded out the made in USA ones and started asking double. No one cared, only complained. I figure those are the ones I'll keep if people don't appreciate them like I do. The mentality may have killed the diecast bank market, but Made In USA is a thing to collect in itself if you ask me. When I started collecting it was old made in USA stuff, not mass-produced Chinese stuff. I started buying these because I thought they were cool and they were still America made, but that started changing. Not important items, but finding USA made is partly behind my collecting interest

Folding step stools from B & R Plastics. Very handy to use for a 4wd to access the rear of the engine or helping folks climb inside. Tucks nicely under a seat and supports 300 lbs.

Re: Sold American!
I was answering a question over in the "Rather unique build Longhorn" thread and noticed this tag on some sewer pumps we have in the warehouse. They are sort of "Made in The USA.".

Re: Sold American!
I hear that lot of stuff that says "Made in Mexico" comes from China and is reboxed. They don't care as much about truth in advertising, I guess.

Re: Sold American!
Ever wonder where snaps on western shirts started? Rockmount did it. Still making shirts. Check out the celebrity section. https://rockmount.com/
I’ve never had another man ask me where I got an article of clothing with the exception of a flannel Rockmount shirt I have and that occurred on about six occasions.

Re: Sold American!
I never knew Rockmount invented the pearl snaps on shirts. Or was it just snaps, then came the pearl? I used to wear the western style shirts, almost exclusively and have quite a collection. I'm sure those are all USA made. I haven't bought a new one in decades. I wore a Dee Cee brand denim pearl snap shirt for my senior class picture in HS. We were given the option of tux or look normal . I chose tux for yearbook and normal for handing out for a few extra bucks. So I got my denim shirt pictures to hand out and when the yearbook came out they left my picture out. I paid extra to have my picture left out! My first introduction to getting screwed out in the real world and I wasn't quite out there yet!

Re: Sold American!
I bought some scrapers today at True Value Hardware made in USA. The 5 packs of blades were Made in the USA also, but the hundred pack of the same brand were made in good ole China. Sorry, I couldn't get it to flip.

I bought a donut gasket a nd a set of brake pads for my '95 Suburban today at Car Quest and was very pleased to see neither were made in China. I guess they don't make everything after all. Both of these things were made in India!

Re: Sold American!
The fog lights on my Jeep TJ Rubicon would not turn off. A thin piece of brass fatigues inside the switch and sends power to them all the time.
I know better, but, my frugality took over and I ordered a new one online. It was made in Taiwan. The switch is simple to change and I buttoned it all back up and ran it through the functions. No signals or flashers. The online guy gave me a refund and told me to throw it in the trash. I called NAPA and they brought me a switch. I swear, it came from the same Taiwan manufacturer. I installed it, and had the same problem, no signal or flashers. I had already done an internet search, and found several videos describing a repair for my problem. I dug my original switch out of the trash can, popped the back off and in 15 minutes had the thing repaired and installed back in the Jeep.
