Re: Plus Five
Others will certainly be of more help than me 'cause I'm still just compiling datas/info on AD trucks and preferably panels and suburban as I plan on buying one to make a restorod with it. I only happened to have a PDF on 1953 ADs. Should you need it, just drop me a line in private with your e-mail address so I can send it to you.

Re: Plus Five
I installed the air intake set up that I made a while back.
The air draws up from the wheel well just above the A-arm.

Re: Plus Five
I also figured out my switch/indicator wiring and locations
for the transmission Overdrive lockout and "sport mode" buttons on the dash.

Re: Plus Five
Well, things look better in pictures.
I've read your thread a bunch of times and it looks as good as the stuff I did. I think you even had a bit more rust. Plus you try stuff I won't dare jump in to...like redoing a steering wheel. nice!

Re: Plus Five
well,
I am still working on the wiring and making good progress. I also am starting to fill all of the fluids. so here is the question I have. How many quarts of tranny fluid does it take to fill a 4l65E that has a new converter and has only had the initial ounces poured into the converter before installation on the engine? Is it something like 10 or 12 quarts ?

Re: Plus Five
Just check it after ten quarts, should be a quart low !
What are you using for the dip stick, indicator?

Re: Plus Five
I have the dipstick and dipstick tube installed, so I should be able
to fill it slowly to the mark. I'm guessing I can get most of it in before it is started, then add the rest slowly?

Thanks for the info, I put three in and filled the pan, so I'll add the rest when I start it up. Maybe some time this month. I cranked the engine about 10 seconds, then waited a minute and cranked another 10 seconds and had good oil pressure. fuel and ignition were disconnected Sweet!!!!

Re: Plus Five
I'm still working on the wiring under the dash, but I need to wait for
my dash speaker. The 5x7 was too big to fit nicely so I ordered a 4x8 dual cone dash speaker. I ran the wiring for the radio inside split loom under the cab floor thru a metal channel that I made. That will keep it away from the power lines to and from the battery and amplifier. The 9 foot long extension cable from the face plate to the radio was just long enough. Plan is for two tweeters in the headliner,a dash speaker, and two speakers in the corners behind the seats with the sub behind the driver seat. I also made up a foam block mock up for a sub woofer behind the seat. The surround behind the seat and the tray is made from .060 aluminum. I'll make a cover for it later.

Re: Plus Five
I'll post more of the radio install after I get the dash speaker and
sub. I installed the fuel filler and tank emissions lines. Charcoal canister and vents all hooked up.

Re: Plus Five
I got the speaker for the dash yesterday.
today was drizzly and cold so I spent a few hours in the shop. I made a bracket for the speaker, and mounted it temporarily. It will be covered with black speaker cloth. I also made a thru the firewall fitting for the windshield washer line. I'll make a reservoir for the fluid later, and mount it in the engine compartment.
