Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
I need to order another booster bracket for the 66 I just got. I am going to leave it drum drum for a now but need to split the brakes and go to a duel master cylinder. Whats the best combo of booster and master? Was looking at just putting the complete 67 setup on it.
Thanks Jimmy

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
Since you are staying drum/drum, yes you will want to use a '67-'70 booster and master cylinder, or any of the compatable boosters along with the '70 Buick Estate wagon master cylinder. Have you seen Sharps40 thread on his power brake upgrade? I'll send you a PM with payment info.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
Thanks for the info and payment made on the bracket. If I go this route and decide to go with front disc would a master cylinder and proportioning valve swap be all that needed? I have a bad habit of not leaving well enough alone.
Thanks Jimmy

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
If you think you may go with discs later, I would go with any one of the compatable boosters and the '70 Buick Estate wagon master cylinder (A1 Cardone #10-1363), rather than the '67-'70 booster and master. The reason being is that the '67-'70 booster has the long intermediate pushrod for a deep bore master cylinder. The majority of the disc brake master cylinders have the shallow bore. The Buick master is for drum/drum brakes but is a shallow bore master.

Hey,
I just put up a post on a problem I am having mounting my booster to the firewall. Looks like this will solve that pronto. Please take a look and let me know if it is the fix. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=617091 Thanks, Scottie |

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
I finally have my power brakes installed. I went with the power brake booster from a 90 Astro Van P/N 54-71220 and the Master Cylinder from a 70 Buick Estate Wagon P/N 13-1063. Captainfab bracket was great (just as advertised)! I've attached a picture for reference. I do have a question though. My brake pedal doesn't seem to engage until it's near the floor, is this normal? I would have expected it to engage sooner.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
Thanks for posting a pic of your installation.....looks good.
As for your low pedal, there are a couple things to try. One is to adjust your pedal to booster pushrod a little longer. Another is to verify that the master cylinder you got does actually have the shallow bore in the back of the piston.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
Mock up pics of the booster bracket, booster, and master cylinder in the dropbox link below. I will be pulling everything back apart for paint and will get some more finish pics then. This is a GREAT piece that is a perfect fit for the truck.
Small install hint, sometimes, the pedal assembly is torqued up and the holes do not properly align with the firewall holes. Loosen the pedal assembly from the column mount under the dash and it will allow you to move those into the correct position for the 4 bolts to line up. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/dy8a02owqa3eman/FsTHFDycSK |

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
I have 2 of these '63-'66 booster brackets that I had zinc plated. The price is the same as the powder coated version which is $61.50 plus $11.65 for shipping.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
Do you still have the zinc coated brackets? If not do you still have any brackets for 63-66.
Thanks |

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
Yes I do have one zinc plated booster bracket left.
The parts that I make are not a limited run of parts, they are always available. I make them on a one going basis. Although the zinc plated booster brackets don't seem to be a big seller, so I may not have any more done.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
Hello Captain Fab, My name is Mark, I have a 1965 Suburban factory 4x4. It has the 292 engine. Currently changed out Dana 44 front closed knuckle and the rear 12 bolt to 1 ton axles from a 78 k30. I will be doing an engine swap to V8, and I am converting to power brakes. The 1 ton front Dana 60 is disk of course and I purchased a new power brake booster/master with proportioning valve from CPP designated for my 65 Burb. So, I need a booster bracket in blk powder coat please. Thx Captain Fab. Mark ,Tucson Az.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
That master cylinder might be too small for your K30 calipers and wheel cylinders. The hydroboost and master cylinder from the '78 K30 would have worked nicely. I'll send you a PM.
