Love your build. Great work. That's also one of my favorite stock colors.

I like it too, a have recently seen a few trucks with fresh paint in that color and, although it is down the road a bit, I look forward to the day mine is clean, straight, and shiny.

I'd like to, but might have to stay close to home for family stuff. I also have an issue with it not wanting to idle in gear. Not sure if it is a signal issue or if the converter is too tight for the cam. Will look at it tonight...

I have a neighbor that has been tuning LS's for 12 years. Let me know if you want to set something up with him.

That might be what I need, but I am going to check for vacuum leaks and other easy stuff first. Does he do tuning on the side or is it his day job?

Thanks, I like the patina too and it will stay this way until it needs to be painted to avoid damage to the sheetmetal.

Re: Project "Just an Old Truck"

Gonna be hard to sleep tonight. Meeting up with the tuner tomorrow to try and correct a couple of issues I am having. It wants to die when I come to a stop, and it shifts way too quickly. It's in high gear by 25 mph under part throttle! I did get a couple things done today. I changed the oil and installed the front sway bar. It's good to have it drivable, and I am enjoying tying up the loose ends...

Re: Project "Just an Old Truck"

Many thanks to Hart_Rod for introducing me to John Weeks who tuned my truck this afternoon! It has really improved how it runs. For those of you who are doing an LS swap, spend the money for a driving tune. He was able to see what the engine and transmission were doing from idle to WOT to cruise. He made adjustment to the fuel curve, timing, and shift points. It made a HUGE difference! I have a few things to change, including building an air intake system, and after that he is going to do a final tune. Anyway, one step closer to Cruisin' the Coast!!

It makes a big difference, makes me wonder if a rear sway bar would be a good idea.

Re: Project "Just an Old Truck"

get one and tell me how it works out I'm definitely interested in one myself as well as an adjustable panhard bar since my p.o.'s solid one has my whole rear end off

Put a few miles on her today, probably 50 or 60. Was a great time, snapped a few pics before I put her away.

Were you happy with the way it was running? Did you figure out the rear gear? Are you ready for CTC?????

Re: Project "Just an Old Truck"

Yes, I am happy. But, there is a caveat. It started making some rocker/lifter noise. Thinking about pulling a valve cover and checking torque on the rockers. If that checks then I will throw in some Lucas oil treatment and see if it helps. I did figure the gear, it's a 3.73. Ready for CTC? We'll have to see...

Thanks for all of your help!

I am VERY jealous right now! Yours is a GREAT inspiration for mine, I need to get rolling!

Where'd you come up with that rear bumper, and are you happy with the quality? I ask because a lot of people seem to have bad experiences with the reproductions, I guess they bow in the middle? Yours looks good, and I need one!

Thanks for the compliment! I bought the rear bumper through GMC Paul's. I am very happy with it, it fits well and the price was fair. Good luck with your build!

Checked the valve train and didn't find anything out of the ordinary. Put a quart of Lucas in the engine for insurance. I'm going to drive it to work in the morning, so that will be a good test. Getting excited about Cruisin' the Coast!
