Re: 72 2wd Blazer: Project "Break Me"
thats cool but it looks like a truck with the bed welded to the cab, i think it would be cooler if you made the top removable but it's your build i was just wondering.

[QUOTE=C3500;2899413]thats cool but it looks like a truck with the bed welded to the cab
That is the whole point is to make it look like a uni-body truck so I guess we are doing pretty good. It is no fun being caught out in the weather with no top. If you want to come down and donate a little time maybe we can figure out a good way to make the top removable and in the process make the window frames on the doors removable also. We will also have to figure out how to make the top seal to the bed cover that is going to be installed and still keep the top removable. It is not as easy as it sounds to make the top removeable and look professional, if it was that is the way we would be doing it. Shoot me a link to your build thread sometime so I can take a look at what you have going on. Last edited by jkade; 09-21-2008 at 08:27 PM. |

Kade, What are your plans for the inside of the bed (on the bed sides)?

Re: 72 2wd Blazer: Project "Break Me"
are you using a bulkhead from a half top or building your own from a truck bed?

Re: 72 2wd Blazer: Project "Break Me"
I am going to build a small trunk that is sealed from the bed for speakers, etc and all my a/c won't being trying to cool the bed also. It will have a bed cover that is in two sections, one will be welded solid to the rear of the cab and to the top of the bed rail for about a foot or two, then it will be hinged where the solid piece ends for the section that will open. I hope that makes sense.

Something like that one but the part that opens will be longer towrds the front, probably open around the front of the wheel tubs.

Re: 72 2wd Blazer: Project "Break Me"
So is the tailgate going to be welded shut and molded in to the "trunk section"?

Re: 72 2wd Blazer: Project "Break Me"
No the tailgate is still going to open I think, I kinda like the look of having the tailgate welded but I also like to have a place to sit. I will have to burn that bridge when I get there. I am for sure getting rid of the stock tail lights and putting some LED's in the roll pan.

I noticed that you changed the original power brake system. What did you replace it with?

Re: 72 2wd Blazer: Project "Break Me"
Good build. Are the rear bags supposed to be helpers, or will you run those and triangulated four link? If you do the four link, consider slam RE8's. They run about $70 per bag, have 8.5" bellows, only require 120psi to be fully extended, and are a whole lot smoother ride.

Re: 72 2wd Blazer: Project "Break Me"
I like it don't get me wrong but I like it better on another persons ride. I want to be low and that is where I am at so why bother?

Re: 72 2wd Blazer: Project "Break Me"
I think the same way. I drive it/keep it low all the time & don't care for the 'frame on the ground' @ the fairgrounds trend. But (another one of those).... air sure is nice when it comes to changing tires or getting a jack underneath the vehicle.
