As i recall there a few special press tools needed ( i think 2 guys and some screwdrivers work too) to swap out clutch packs and I also beleve to install one of the packs inside a band.. What i cant figure out is what the copper line goes too, I have not seen that before. Its been about 1985 since i have been inside a turbo 350.

Your just looking at the valve body, all the clutch packs and planitarys are inside the main body.

An extra pair of hands can be a big help!
But 2 paint can openers, With the ends ground sharp,
Grab the discs pretty well.

The copper line you see, Is actually white, Stained by fluid. Going
to the coil. That engages the locking torque converter.
This is not a regular th350, It's a th350c. That is why the kit had
to be ordered. They had the freshen up kit, But not the complete rebuild
kit.

Thanks for the tool tip! Yea couldn't quite figure out the copper line to an electrical coil type device (scratching head).. That makes much more sense.

The TH350was the standard mid 70's automatic.
The TH350c was the upgraded version with a locking torque converter.
And used in heavier applications. But people don't like change,
Even through this newer tranny could give them
up to 20% better fuel efficiency. The other thing
they didn't like was that you had to wire up the locking
torque converter for it to work right. Companies like B&M
make control boxes for this purpose, With adjustable lockup mph control.
But this will cost you a few hundred dollars.

I won't be using a control box. I'll simply make my own.

The following are the AC Delco part numbers for the original components used for this transmission type.

Vacuum Switch - AC Delco # 212-331, GM # 14032087 (Quoted price was $35.31)
Brake Pedal Switch - AC Delco # D850A, GM # 25524845 (Quoted price was $11.32)
Vacuum Check Valve - AC Delco # 214-479, GM # 14020691 (Quoted price was $19.91)
Total cost = $66.54

The plug for wiring to the vacuum switch is not available new to
my knowledge and I could not find one at the local salvage yard.
Seeing that I forgot to cut the one out of the van it came out of.
To make the connection I will solder the wires directly to the connector
lands on the switch using shrink tubing to provide some strain relief protection.
One of the wires from the vacumm switch goes to a keyed 12V source
while the other wire goes to the brake switch.

The brake switch has four poles on it. Two are for the lockup function
and the other two are for the tail light circuit. I will have to figure out which
was which by trial and error. Once I get that figured out and connect
the switched 12v from the vacuum switch, I will need to run another
wire from the other pole down to the solenoid switch on my transmission.

The other side of the vacuum switch consists of a male vacuum
connection which I tubed to the intake manifold vacuum tree.
The small check valve was inserted between the switch and
the manifold.

That is it.

They work great, But depending on the motor,
You may want to change some of the measurements.
You want the bolts of the oil pan, To sit on top of the 2x6's

Got my re build kit for my tranny this afternoon,
So I will do that Thursday and Friday I guess.
Also picked up a set of SS hugger headers this week.
And, Remodeled my swap meet cart, Kind of a Gasser T bucket look
What you all think, Still not done though.

Got my new gas tank in today
78 Jeep Scrambler, The same as the Wrangler tank
Silverdollar used. So I was doing some test fitting.
But I got to looking at my parts cart, And thought it
needed more room. So I started building a scale T-Bucket body
for it. Should have it ready for paint tomorrow

I finished framing out the body today.
Put expanded metal in the bottom.
And covered the outside with some
ductwork tin.
The painter next door, Offered to paint it.

It rolls with ease.

Finished mounting the gas tank yesterday.
Ended up using 3/4: angle iron, Mounting from
up under the frame. The tank rises less than 1"
above the frame rails. I also got my stainless steel
hugger headers in. They look sweet.

Looks good. I used a 73+ blazer tank in mine and it's pretty big. I think I'm going to change the mounting to one like this though.
