Pedal position does dictate where it needs to be a little bit but you kind of need to find a happy medium between having room for the steering column, having room for the booster, clearing the gas pedal, clearing the ignition switch, etc.

Re: 72 Suburban Build
I finished the mount, got it tacked up, and bolted everything else on to make sure I brought out enough but not too far for clearance. It came out perfect! Now I just need to finish welding it up. I'm very happy with how it has come out so far.

Re: 72 Suburban Build
I have a cool billet remote reservoir for it. Ill post some pics of it after i finish polishing it. I'm still trying to decide where to mount it. I'm considering mounting in under the cowl right now. We'll see though.

Re: 72 Suburban Build
Yes. I'm probably about 90% done with smoothing it out. I just need to plug the speedo cable hole and the e-brake cable hole and its smooth. Then probably about an hour more of sanding and its done.

Re: 72 Suburban Build
I finished up the brake assembly today. I had the modify the stock dash/steering column support. Everything is all painted and ready to go. My new Lokar shifter is here too. After looking at my nasty steering column and trying to figure out how to make it look good, I ended up saying screw it, called up Justin at Scotts Hotrods, and ordered a new Ididit tilt column with the billet firewall mount.
Tomorrow I'm going to work on brake lines and putting the dash back together.

Re: 72 Suburban Build
Looks good - hard to reach? How about a custom flip open panel on the inside driver fender (you have excellent skills so just throwing that out there).

Re: 72 Suburban Build
Great idea...however, it needs to be higher than the top of the master cylinder in order for that pesky gravity thing to work.

Re: 72 Suburban Build
And we're SMOOTH!!! I have a tiny bit more sanding to do and it won't be 100% done until I get my new swivel ball column mount but it looks good now.

Re: 72 Suburban Build
VERY NICE!
Where will the brake lines exit the inside of the cab/body? I assume you have bulkhead fitting for this? Love your burb!

Thanks! I have a bulkhead but I'm still trying to figure out if/where I'm going to put it.

Re: 72 Suburban Build
Finished up the firewall (until my column gets here). I was going to get the drive train in but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. I don't think the motor mounts I was given will work. If its not one thing its 20 f-in others.

Re: 72 Suburban Build
I'm pretty sure that remote reservoir is gonna crash with the hood but I could be wrong? You may be able to notch the hood for it to clear as far as the motor goes it don't look like its anywhere even close to fitting.. Is the oil pan sitting on the rack? I'm assuming you do not have the trans cross member in and its no where near close enough to bolt up,but I could be wrong.

As far as the pan goes, I can slide a piece of paper between it and the rack right now. I don't have the tranny cross member in yet. Was going to going to try to do that today but ran into a big problem. After emailing Nate back and forth for the last hour or so, he thinks I have a SBC drop member. He has a jig made up (its happened before) to Fab up some different motor mounts .
