Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Thanks Mark, I plan to use 2 1/2 exaust tubing to make the buckets for the tail lights.
LED Clusters are available from several outfits. It's looking like about 100 bucks total by the time I finish the lights out. Also I keep changing my mind on the gates. Now I'm looking at steel tube frames with sheet metal fillers vs wood stakes and planks. This will let me design a more radiused look vs. square. I think that will match the roundness of the trucks cab better. I still need to decide on how I will attach tie downs too. Probably will go with the inset type that screw into the floor, however I will add backing plates under the bed of the truck. I don't want to lose a bike going down the road. Like you say "Indesision is the key to flexibility" |

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
have you considered rub rails for tie downs?
It all sounds good . It will be interesting to see how it works out. |

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
I got the final primer coat on the left rear fender. Tomorrow I am bringing the right door in to work, to tear it down (regulator, latch and handle) then start on the rust clean up and fixing a few dents.
Also tested the "BMW" xenon headlamp conversion. It is going to work great!! |

Got the bedliner applied to the cab floor, both inside and out. Will need one more quart to finish, two quarts total. Happy with how it looks, hope who ever buys it will

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
I used the Herculiner in the quart size since I'm only doing the cab. Turned out pretty good. like to add another coat if it allows (didn't read that far) and use a roller this time. I think that would look better, but then it will be covered in carpet. Used it for leak prevention on the new panels over the seam sealer, and I'm sure it will quiet things down some. Post up some pics tonight.
I know you have to stir the crap out of it or all the rubber stays in the bottom, DO NOT SHAKE! Why? I don't know; but it says not to. Oh and on another note; stay away from the Rustoleum spray, might be good if you can get it out of the CAN! Waste of money at almost $8.00 a can.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Okay, okay, I believe you! And it looks nice and solid too. What kind of condition was that floor and those kick panels before you painted it on? I plan to use something like this too after seeing another member's and now yours. BUt I still plan on putting Peel 'n Seal on top of it too!

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Dan,
the floors had been patched from the under side, leaving the old rusty metal on top and the kick panels were toast. I made all new panels with 18ga sheet metal and cut out the old leaving a boarder to attach to. Couldn't afford new panels at about $100.00 each side shipped, not including the kick panels. I bought the 4'x8'sheet of 18 ga for $48.00 and still have about a 1/2 left of the sheet left. The floor panels are 2 pieces each side. Formed with some angle iron, vicegrips, vice and a hammer! glued in place with body panel adhesive and a few rivets for extra measure. I double sealed it with a water/freeze resistat calk and then the bedliner. Hope I get no leaks! I secon qt. will finish the bottom and hopefully leave enough for a second coat on top, rolled on for a better finish look. Not that it really matters as it will have carpet over it.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
I installed a pair of courtesy lights that come on when the door is opened, and finished up my hazard flashers. I used after market tag lights for the lights, and door switches that I picked out of the NAPA catalog. The hazard switch is mounted where the choke would normally be. It's a Ford switch that I got off of EBay, but I have a chrome Chevy style knob ordered to make it look better..

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Did some minor fiberglassing of holes in the inner rocker panels, for lack of knowing what to call them. Hope to smooth them out tomorrow with a little bondo. Got a couple of interested buyers who want to come see it this week. Try and do some little things to make it look better and if they don't take it, I got a little bit more off of the to do list. And patched a whole in the lower cowl side where it rolls under. Good therapy if nothing else

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Just got off the phone with "fenders n' more" out of Santa Fe Springs CA.
http://fendersnmore.com/ Orered the custom fenders for the flatbed 59. I tried finding ready made fenders but no one had what I needed so I went custom made. If anyone needs a AMERICAN MADE FENDER I recomend these guys. Great customer service, great turn around time and not too bad price wise. Mine will come in at around $100.00 shipped! I should see them around the end of the week or early next week. |

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
In memory of all Vetrans........Got the cab set on chassis over the weekend to check motor/tranny location. Will probably lift the tail of the tranny up about an inch, other wise it sits pretty good. It has been a little over a year since I started ripping it apart. Some progress but long way to go. Hoping to start on motor this winter.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Picked up some wheels from FFredo, installed my front turn signals, wire-loomed under the hood, cleaned up the garage a little in preparation for the under bed gas tank installation coming up.
Nice meeting you FFredo, super nice guy and you were very welcoming. It's great to meet forum members and build friendships. |
