Re: 77 Silverado Build thread
Got the firewall and fenders painted. Just waiting for the paint to dry to bolt everything up. Started mounting the overfill jug and battery tray and man, aftermarket battery trays SUCK. I had to use a BFH to beat parts of it to fit. The bottom piece was at the wrong angle and put everything in a bind. Started re-routing the wiring, more loom is needed for the passenger side and I need some more of those clips that hold it together. Motor mounts were on and shot some more paint over the area because the twisting bolts pulled some paint off. Having some crossmember problems but once I get that taken care of I should be ready for the new drivetrain. Have my tach to mount on the steering column but I have $0 in my wallet so I can't buy the $2 worm clamp at the home depot! might check the couch cushions tomorrow though.

Re: 77 Silverado Build thread
More stuff done today. Center brace in. Got the bumper and bumper brackets installed. Such a pain in the butt when you are doing everything alone. Made sure to lube the shiz out of all of the bolts because I didn't want to break another bolt.

Re: 77 Silverado Build thread
Well, I have a mechanic friend that is going to change the cam out on the crate engine Wednesday. Also me and dad are going to pick up the transmission Wednesday. I've got 4 weeks till I have to vacate our shop to the new one and I don't want to have to tow so it's gonna be running in 4 weeks.
I had all of my bolts laying out NEXT TO THE PART THEY CAME OFF OF but somehow someone moved everything around. Now I get to spend $80 on a complete SS ARP bolt kit (kinda glad, got some bling bling now). Having some problems with my crossmember mounting. The e-brake setup is in the way. So I'm going to chunk that and go with an 84+ e-brake system that runs down the drivers side and crosses over at the axle. Hopefully I'll get enough money from Christmas to finish out my interior as well. Gotta get some door panels, heat insulation, and flooring. Planning on the MIP mat LMC sells. It's a polyvinyl mat instead of rubber. Seeing the lenghts my parents go through keeping their carpets clean, I don't want to mess with it.

Re: 77 Silverado Build thread
Sure here is one. The bracket that allows the line to crossover to the passenger side is right where I need to put my crossmember. The rivit that is on the side of the frame (not the two on the bottom in the picture) is one of the front cab supports. The crossmember needs to be installed right under it pretty much.

Re: 77 Silverado Build thread
hmm interesting...My parking brake doesnt work but all lines seem to be there...Also there is a wire that I believe attaches to a mechanism on the cross member that isnt attached but i believe is related to the brakes

Re: 77 Silverado Build thread
Picked up my new transmission today! So excited I forgot a picture. Funny story though.
My transmission mount was previously used as an exhaust mount. When I had the new exhaust put in they used a torch to break the mount off the transmission. Turning in mine as a core, they went to transfer the mounts and looked at my jagged torched mount and gave me the most quizzical look like "WTF is this". I ended up telling them the story of the exhaust mount and they thought that was really funny, even offered me a free mount. I already have a poly mount at home that came with my engine mounts though. Time to go hunting for the rest of the week though!

Re: 77 Silverado Build thread
Exhaust buttoned up with clamps, once it's running it will be welded.

Re: 77 Silverado Build thread
Yeah, I've been fighting it for a week trying to get it started. Almost burned my eyebrows off several times backfiring flames. I reversed the dizzy 3 times thinking it was off but turn out it was only 1 tooth off the whole time!
