Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
Allright, I tacked in the lower a-pillar, welded in the floor section and kick panel, and test fitted the outer rocker. All looks good so far. I still have to get the door on befor I weld in the outer rocker. Tips and hints welcome.

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
this is what we did.......
use low profile sheet metal screws to hold the outer rocker in place while you test fit the door. if all is well you can then spot weld (rosette) weld it in. what we did was screw the outer rocker on, fit the door. once the door was fit, marked the hinges. drilled through the hinges into the cab to use for reference later, removed the rocker and drilled holes to use to spot weld to the cab, finish welding the a pillar, then screwed the rocker back to the cab as it was previously and started spot welding it in slowly, lastly remove the screws and weld up the holes... good luck, looking good sir.

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
I mocked up the door and i am satisfied with the fit.I had the left cab corner changed a couple years ago and never liked the fit so i cut it out. I tried to get it ti fit right but I took off too much metal. Time to order another corner.

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
that's how we learn. sometimes you can add some scrap metal back to make it work, but sometimes it's better to start with a new piece. Great progress, stay with it....

At least your jumping in with both feet! The feeling of satisfaction when its done can not be compared to having it done by someone else.
Keep it up! You're motivating me! BTW, we need to get all the central valley guys that lurk here together sometime this summer....... Jay |

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
Greetings folks. How's this for deja vu, I decided to redo the right cab corner and lower right a pillar. I had some difficulty with the fit on the cab corner, but overall it is better than what i replaced.

Good one GCB. I even started taking off the dates from the pics so you all wouldn't notice my slow progress. I'm on it now though.

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
Great project MrE! just got through the whole thread. I love the chassis! it's amazing. I know how much time, money, and work you have in it. I am right in the middle of mine. Short on cash, I am fabbing as much of my own parts as I can. Still trying to pull the trigger on those high$$ brake lines. Yours turned out great. Nice work on all the rust repair. I'm past "most" of that already. Hang in there I know how long one of these frame off builds take.

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
Greetings everyone, I've had some time this summer to work (rework) on the truck. I was never happy with the right floor fit to the inner rocker and therefore kick panel...so I tore it all out and started with installing one of those new inner rockers with a part of the floor. I then fabricated a floor section. The result was much better. Everything lined up perfect.

Oh yea, i forgot to mention, i picked up this gauge cluster and painless wire harness. My plan is use a polished billet bezel with the gauges.
