Re: 1969 Chevy Stepside Restoration/Build up
Took the 69' on the last drive of the season and got some great pics of it! Probably one of the last days I'm going to drive it this year because snows just around the corner!

Re: 1969 Chevy Stepside Restoration/Build up
Well it's been awhile since I did anything to the truck so I decided to finish a unfinished project on it: The Sidemarker Fuel Filler.
Before this the filler was behind the rear tire and you couldn't fill it up at a gas station. I used a 90's truck fuel door and filler tube system and modified it to work. No results from the gas station because it's winter but here's the results: Put 5 gallons of gas in it with a can and it worked great!

Re: 1969 Chevy Stepside Restoration/Build up
Dude I just found this build thread. Killer truck. I remember seeing it at the show & shine last year. You've done a great job on it. I really like the hidden fuel filler neck behind the side marker lense.

Just want to say that's a heck of a truck and great looking. Yes as it has been commented at one time projects are more work than you can imagine. But in the end it pays off.

Re: 1969 Chevy Stepside Restoration/Build up
Thanks, no I'm running just the under bed tank in the rear, the original filler tube remains in the cab and appears factory from the outside even though it goes to no tank lol. The real tank filler is hidden in the side marker light.

Re: 1969 Chevy Stepside Restoration/Build up
Update:
Just ordered some stuff for the 5.3L. Got a Cam, Springs, and Pushrods. The cam is from Comp Cams and its their LSR series. The specs are 215/223 .604/.610 112LSA it has a power band from 1300-6500 rpm so they told me I can get by with the stock converter. I also got Comp's 918 spring good for .625 lift. I found some 7.400" chrome-moly hardened pushrods for a good deal to so I got those. Next I'll get the computer tuned for the changes along with some other stuff! Can't wait to hear it once its installed, I'll post pic of the install and video once it runs.

Re: 1969 Chevy Stepside Restoration/Build up
Just scored a perfect original rust free fender for the Passenger side of the truck. The one thats on there is a repo and it doesn't fit at all since the stamping is so bad. I'm also going to redo my body work on the passenger side door and repaint it when I put on the original fender.

Re: 1969 Chevy Stepside Restoration/Build up
Bump! The trucks still running good other than I haven't been able to drive it to much as the crappy Alaska weather has not permitted. But I did get to go to some good car shows with it! Only a total of 1,500 miles on it since I restored it. This winter I may be planning to build a 6.0L LQ4 into a 408 Stroker and drop that in as the 5.3L needs some gaskets (rear main).
