I like the flat black better than the blue. Glad to see you back at it. don't be afraid of that engine, get er running good and drive that beast. You got a fuel pressure gauge on there? what carb you running? have you tore into it, make sure everything is chipper? You got your timing good?

yea i like the flat black better. no fuel pressure gauge. stock rodchester 2 barrel. i regasketed it. it came off a running engine so i just put new gaskets thats all. timing was way off but we got that fixed. the fuel problem was the eletric fuel pump and lines had ait in them. reason was we didn't have enough gas in the tank. dummy me for not checking that.

well i have been cracking on the truck when temps will allow. my father in law and i worked on her yesterday. temp high was 17 deg we had a small gas heater that goes on the top of a 20lb bottle. it took the chill out so we worked all day and got a lot of stuff wraped up. radio is moved to the under dash fillers i made. stock speaker grill has new speakers in it. freebies thanks to a friend with a junkyard. bed is almost done with the exception of the floor and wood for the sides. interior is almost wrapped up. needs a headliner and few odds and ends. as far as all the new weather seals the only ones left are the outside door seals but was too cold to glue them on. need to get a new starter the old one crapped the bed. my uncle says he has one for me just need to go pick it up. made my rad over flow bottle from a monster reaseable alum can. looks awsome. truck is all black now. need to paint the grill and front bumper silver or white to break up the black. maybe the wheels white too. sorry no pics it was so cold the digital camera didn't want to work. i will get pics up soon. oh almost forgot got the exhaust finished just need to get a piece of straight pipe and a few clamps. thats all for now. i hope to have it done for the first week of feb. we wil see how that works out.

Can't wait to see this baby roll. Great feeling when you are winding down on things to do list. I think black with white and or silver would be a good choice.

I like how you went back to the original dash set up.

I think that flat bed is gonna be pretty cool, I actually like seeing a tall set of tires or a dually with flatbeds. I really like that flipper truck that is on this board. anyway, keep it up. Should see you on the road soon right?

it's not going to be a flat bed it will be a custome stepside like orignal but with a hotrod twist. i like where the radio is mounted now it makes the dash look a lot cleaner.

here are the pics of the finished bed. still working on the fenders. they should be done this week. also made a cool air cleaner from a hub cap i had laying around. got the outer door seals installed. what a pain in the ass.

rear fender are finished. got to fix the damn trans leak. new gasket didn't fix it so i have to pull the pan again. but she is running. figured out i had a bad connector on the hei. i got a video of it running but don't know how to post it.

yea my garage is atcually a stroage unit. 8 miles from my house so when i droped my daughter off at school i went ther to work on the truck. i live in the scraton/wilkesbarre area. i about 2 1/2 hours north of you. i work a lot in the york area though.

put my truck on e bay. why do some people think that you will give away a running truck with all the hard work done. pisses me off. i had one guy that had the nerve to tell me he will take it off my hands for $2000.00. i told him that i'll do him a favor and hang up politely like i didn't hear that. i think that asking $7000.00 for my truck is a fair price. espically since that it only needs a headliner and a front end allignment. what do you guys think. was i asking too much.

Oh, dunno how I just noticed yours is a 54' but you have a split windshield and different dash. What is up with that, did I miss something in your thread?

As for asking price. Not many people will see the amount of work that goes into something. I think building and reselling is a gamble. I think if you had the original bed, you'd have better luck, JMO. If you can post videos of it running and driving and have long distances under it's belt, your value should go up. Some people rather buy cheap and fix up, or buy and build. Some people can't do anything themselves and need to buy something completed.
As for the asking price and Ebay. I'd look around and see what other trucks are bringing and asking and compare. What it's worth to you is usually more than you will get. for me I always say I'd never sell mine, so my price would be higher than most would pay. I do see trucks where the price is cheap or really fair, then you see people asking 40k for something, it's just all over the place, and you are going to have to deal dooshbags that want to lowball a midget.

yes my truck is a early 54 and being a ton and a half the were using the leftover 53 cabs on the bigger trucks because back then companys duidn't care if it was the new cab or old style cab. all the cared about was the price. i have about 9k in my truck and i think i am asking a fair price. i know having an orignal bed would make it sell better but i couldn't find one. i would evenn let the truck go for 6k. i know i will have to deal with loseing money on the truck but i'm not going to give it away. i have been talking with my wife and may drive the truck for awhile with a for sale sign in it. see if i can sell it that way.

oh yeah def tuff to take a loss. But over time if you enjoy it or you build and resell, taking a loss isn't as bad. The last thing you wanna do is sell something you put so much time into, let alone money. I think egay is a good bet because you are getting a huge array of people and you will see what people from all over would be willing to pay. I did just run into a guy last night, bought some fender skirts off him, he had been building since like the 80s and when he is done with a project he sells it and moves on. He said right now the economy is dead and everything he ever sold was from someone out of state. So a local sale might be hard, that is why say egay or something is nice. There is a truck news print called round up. you should check that out.

well the wilkes college car show got cancled this sunday on the count of there calling for bad weather so next sunday is the rain date. i hope weather is going to be nice. i pre regestered so i am guarenteed a spot. my friend who owns a garage/car lot is letting be borrow a dealer plate to take it to the show. maybe it will sell. had to change the brake booster this week it was leaking bad. also got the interior finished. made a custome headliner for it. what a pain in the butt. took 4 1/2 hours of cutting and fitting the pressed carboard then 20 minutes to cover it with the material and install it. also put the red neon kit i got for free of my one friend on it. looks good with the truck being black. i have to get some pics up of it. i will befiently get pics at the car show next week.

well i took the truck on her first real maiden voyage. everything works great. only thing i need to do is tighten the steering box up a little. here are some pics from the show. only a few trucks. then the camera died. the black chevy had a blown small block. the s10 was really slammed only 3 feet tall all layed out. the green truck was all chromed out very nice. there was more imports and newer cars than classics.

well i won best of show a few weeks back at the local vfw car show. here is a pic of my wife with the trophy. the guy that puts on the show had his teenage daughter pick the winner and she like my truck. there was lots of nicer vehicles there but she like mine. go me.
