Re: 1987 Chevy Silverado project
i've seen them use calc paper for the other side they stick it on the side they allready taped and mark out some referencepoints and use a piece of eeeeeeh burned wood..... dunno the english word for it or pencil to trace the tape underneat
then they take of the calc paper and punch little holes through the lines with a needle every 1/4 inch or so then they stick the whole sheet of paper to the other side with the drawn side towarth the truck and use talcom in a sock or sum coloured powder and tap the stuff on the paper through the little holes onto the truck when you take the paper off you have a patern of tiny dots to wish to lay the tape over on the other side it wil make both sides identical wish is nice when you look at the truck from the front with the doors open dont forget to tape the flames through the doorjambs its a little extra effort but hardly any cost and looks a whole lot better at a meet

Re: 1987 Chevy Silverado project
^^^Very true. I was going to suggest the same to keep it symmetrical. But with an intricate design like that, if each sides are unique enough to truly look different, if can be awesome too.
Funk:I still like the color combo you want to use. How bout a black and blue 2 tone, no splitter color. Then put down your lined out green tribal flames like in your drawing. I think that would keep the clean look of the 2 tone but give you the flash you want too.

Re: 1987 Chevy Silverado project
as a variation of the black and blue two tone, how about using the body line as a break (like your drawing), and do the upper in a silver with a really big flake. use the bottom of the silver as a break, and do a candy blue over the rest of it, perhaps further splitting the black/silver/blue with orange or bright green pinstripes. You could go back over the silver with soem tribal flame shaded airbrushing.

Re: 1987 Chevy Silverado project
I tend to have those from time to time. And, yes that is what I am thinking. Or even make the lines 1/4" thick. They will stand out but still be very subtle at the same time. And, you either need to start them on top behind the hood completely or do something to connect them from side to side. (I hope that made sense.)

Re: 1987 Chevy Silverado project
Hey texasfunk! I really like following your progress here. Are you going to autobody school? That's so cool. On post #144 you did a rendering with the different style wheels. Would you be able to do a rendering of a 92' Silverado X-cab with and 86' stepside bed? I'm about 3/4 way through my 86' stepside build and I really like the woodbed and was thinking about maybe finding a stepside bed to swap out on my 92. Might look pretty cool but I can't even visualize that in my head. If I could draw like you I would try. Man, you draw pretty awesome too! Good luck bro!

Re: 1987 Chevy Silverado project
I like these designs much better than the original one. Your doing a great job of designing flames.

Re: 1987 Chevy Silverado project
well, last night i was just about to order my boss 338's last night for 770 shipped just wheels, when something told me to check craigslist, a few weeks ago there was an ad for 20's, but 1500, i checked last night, and he wanted 800, so i jumped on it! and the great thing, they have brand new tires! so now i got a set of polished 212 eagle alloys! best thing i got 6! yea, two full size spares with tires as well! i got 4 20x8's and 2 20x10's, good deal? i think so

Re: 1987 Chevy Silverado project
that is a nice score , could fit the extra tires to a small trailer
seen a couple of pickupbeds and pickupframecombo's converted to a trailer painted the same way as the truck pulling it and fitted with the same rims usually had a barbeque and a cooler mounted inside for tailgate parties

Re: 1987 Chevy Silverado project
That would look cool with both the truck and trailer slammed in the weeds. Sounds like watahyaknow picked your next project.
