Re: my 50 build... why not?
Haven't had a whole lot of time lately.
Getting some wiring done. Came to a stopping point to see where my gauges and other stuff will go. Started on the center console too. 2 coats of glass mat put down, and 3 on the top. I will pull out the foam inside and see how sturdy it is then decide if i will add another layer or not. Then I have to make inner bracing, and mounts for shifter. Placing my order for my converter hopefully this week with Pete from hughes. then hopefully a week or so after that, I can get my big engine parts order. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: my 50 build... why not?
2 coats on the sides of the console, 3 on the top. Bracing has been added and riveted in. One more coat will go on the sides to cover the rivets.
Shifter has been mounted, and a cover "bubble" if you will, is also glassed. I cut out the gauge panel as I'm going to make it removable, and blend in to the rest. It will be tricky, but I should be able to pull it off. Third gear Park Starting on the removable gauge panel. The "bubble to cover the console. Waiting for it to harden, then I will smooth it up a bit and make it a bolt on piece. The bracing I gave freakshow converters a call. He pretty much won me over. Hughes was $640 already set up for the turbo setup beings its another 260 to get it re stalled. Freakshow is 320 shipped and 120 to re stall. Michael is a super awesome dude and seems to know his ****. Stall should be around 3000 on the foot brake and on the t-brake and flashes around 4000. Sould be here next week. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: my 50 build... why not?
About 6 hours of filler work on the console and its only about half done. Yuck. I need to open up my gaps on the gauge panel a bit, then smooth up the lines.
Converter showed up Friday. Picked up the f body oil pan as well. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: my 50 build... why not?
Freakshow is very good to deal with. I worked with Michael on 1 for my chevelle and put it behind a 436 sbc and it has worked great for over a yr now. Very nice build, I'm getting ideas for my 51.

This truck is beautiful...I could hang that rear fender on my wall as art and look at it all day! Can't wait to see the final result.

Re: my 50 build... why not?
I'm planning on pulling the 436 sb out of my chevelle for the truck. the chevelle will get a milder 383 sb and let my wife drive it. The 436 has a Motown block, dart heads, mech roller with a super victor and QF 850. I built the 350 turbo using Coan stuff and a freakshow conv. Runs pretty nice.

Re: my 50 build... why not?
VHT, that sounds like a beast! Any videos or a build up on it? If not, you should... Glad to hear of another successful freakshow user. Lol sounds like a drug.
Ogre, thanks a lot! You're pretty much the fiberglass interior god on this forum as far as I know. I will end up glassing the back of the cab, and a bunch of other interior parts, but probably after I'm able to drive it around. I'm fairly happy with how it turned out. Hopefully this week I can have the floor mounts made for the console to bolt it in, install all the gauges, cup holders, and the cage for a CD player. Re: my 50 build... why not?
Thanks guys. Progress is once again going to be slowed. My finances didn't work out as I had planned. So now, I'm going to finish the walls in the garage. I got one set of shelves hung, and 2 walls painted white. Now I need to lay down the floor border and move stuff around to finish the rest.

Re: my 50 build... why not?
I've been busy as hell with things not related to my pickup. But, anywho, we had a big car club meeting planned, so I got the garage done minus the ceiling. So that's a plus. Doesn't look like it though. Lol
I'm fairly happy with how the console turned out. I need to make the floor mounts, cup holders, and get the cage for a CD player. wide band will go in the middle We have been remodeling my basement for the last month or so. Still need carpet, but that will be after the other half of the basement. Also dug in deep into the kitchen already. Yuck. On the bright side, I should be ordering the turbo next week. Then I will be sending the carb off to c&s to get it converted to e85 and other goodies.

I feel your pain, house projects kept me away from my truck for 6 years between tear down and start of reassembly.

Probably going to be even longer for motor parts now... Just ordered the new GE Artistry series. Fridge, stove, range microwave, and dish washer. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing... Lol

Re: my 50 build... why not?
hey man, gotta keep the wife and fam happy too (if you got those) if not, a nice home keeps a clear mind, a clear mind has more roof for mechanical thinking. I'm on a similar boat as you, getting set behind sux, but it will all pan out. Enjoy your nice new kitchen.
