Re: Project Ru5tyNut5
I do have a sickness, that's for sure...I got rid of one of my projects a couple weeks ago, no longer have the '51 chevy business coupe. I can't wait to get the Pontiac going but have been lacking motivation lately, I think I need someone to come over and help to motivate me as I'm just sick of always working alone, it gets boring. I didn't end up picking up the '66 I was looking at, couldn't agree on a price. I've looked at a couple other since then too but same thing, people think that an old truck that needs every single panel replaced is still worth a pile of gold. smashed roof, rusted out doors, hood, fenders and long bed, runs with a loud knock = $2500....yea right. anyhow, are you going to the Hillsboro thing this saturday Irish? I plan on going but I'm not sure if I'm taking my truck or one of my works cars yet. If I'm not draggin the bumper around there in my stepside then I'll probably be in a mazda RX8 that says "CorkSport" huge on the sides. maybe I'll see ya there...

Re: Project Ru5tyNut5
I hear ya. I would recommend you come to the cruise and meet up with us. I'm sure we can help motivate ya. I used to find it hard too. One of the main reasons we wanted to setup the club was for that very reason. We could all do with someones help sometime workin on these old rigs. Some guys are good at bodywork, some guys are motor guys and so on.... bring on over the ass dragger and we can shoot the ****. I live pretty close by the burgerville so if you wanna come over earlier, that's cool.

Re: Project Ru5tyNut5
cool, I tore the **** out of my bumper on my truck draggin it around last summer but I just got a new one that arrived today actually. my plan was to drive the truck if I got my new bumper on in time or one of my work cars if I didn't. I have the bumper as of today so it's just a matter of putting it on now. I plan to come either way I guess I just have more of a reason to drive a particular vehicle now....I'll just plan on bringing my truck.

Re: Project Ru5tyNut5
I might have my Pontiac on the road for the roundup, if not I'll stop in as a spectator at some point. it really doesn't need much but I've been lazy, just a little body work, paint, interior, and hook up the fuel cell.

Re: Project Ru5tyNut5
it isn't much but I got her up on stands tonight, got the steering column out, steering box off, and the front crossmember is pretty much off....it's just hanging from a few loose bolts until I figure out where I'm going to put it. just about ready to Z the frame, just need to get some gas for the welder and then it's go time.

Re: Project Ru5tyNut5
How is that 6cyl so clean? Recent rebuild? Might be interested in the valve cover if you're not

Re: Project Ru5tyNut5
that motor never ran in this truck, was never actually wired in either. I got it from a friend and actually helped him put it together last year out of parts from like 8 different trucks. the motor and trans were from another friends car and were put in the truck but never hooked up then the truck sat for a year before I bought it. I'm giving the motor back to the guy I got the truck from because I bought a 350 from Irish to put in the GMC and the guy I got the truck from wants to use the head from the 292 on his 235 or something like that, not sure if he wants the valve cover too or not.

Re: Project Ru5tyNut5
oh yea, I got impatient and went back out and took the front crossmember the rest of the way off. still don't have anywhere to put it so it's under the front of the truck but it's not connected at all. my garage is too small!!

Re: Project Ru5tyNut5
went a little different direction than originally planned but it's painted. I'm taking it to my friends house tonight to get the striping done on the hood and trunk lid. I'm dropping it off tonight and picking it up tomorrow after work so I'll be waiting in suspense until tomorrow...then I just need to clean up the whitewalls and put the hubcaps back on and she'll be ready for "The Big Shindig" on saturday.

Re: Project Ru5tyNut5
I know it's not the GMC, but I've been workin' on the Pontiac lately so I can have a cool ride for the rest of the summer and the Poncho is a driver, I'll be back on the truck soon.
Had the Poncho in a local show called "The Big Shindig" over the weekend and won "Best Paint". I was pretty stoked to get a trophy at her first showing! Pontiac's trunk lid hood whole front at the show a little early...
