Re: My '74 build- "Clifford"

I wish I was only pic teasing. Me posting from my phone is the last frontier. After a long weekend, all I wantes was my own bed. Instead, we slept in a guest room upstairs. The house was still freaking hot this morning.

Good to hear you made it home despite the trailer tires problems. I am guessing you thought about sleeping in your truck with the a/c out in the house.

Re: My '74 build- "Clifford"

I got to drive teh ol' truck to work today. Man, I missed this truck. The A/C was definitely worth the wait.

Over the weekend, I got my NOS 1975 Texas plates put on, and swapped out the marker lights to orange (and to replace the one I cracked). Fixed a little wiring, and drove it around town Saturday and Sunday. I can't feel the TCC locking up, but it is turning about 2200 RPM in the tach going with traffic. Not too shabby.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

D'oh! I meant '74. The lettering is even orange. Worked out pretty cool that way.

Geez.... it has been out of your posession for a while. Here's a suggestion next time someone asks what year it is, think birthday (the original) .

That's probably a function of my sweet typing skills. I know what I meant to type, but what comes out may be completely different. It's like having my own auto correct always on.

Re: My '74 build- "Clifford"

Couple of new pictures from yesterday. I drove over to Scoti's place for a visit, and the truck ran pretty well. Left there, and it started missing like crazy. I know the alternator is overcharging, so hopefully that is it. I am sending it out tomorrow. It's go to be something to keep life interesting.

I sure hope the truck you traded for looks that good when it's all said & done.

I think it will. Maybe this one was a "warm up" for your square body massaging skills.

Now that the a/c is done looks like you need to work your detail magic under the hood...

Re: My '74 build- "Clifford"

That's probably a couple of months off, Ken. There may be a little rehash of the suspension coming up. That might be prime detailing time.

The pics add about 10lbs of dirt.....
I originally thought the same but it actually looks pretty good in person.

Re: My '74 build- "Clifford"

The firewall needs a little love, and the shroud too. I will address those this fall. I painted the core support, inner fenders, etc when I had it apart. I was painteing on Tuesday night to get it put together and loaded on Thursday, and it was cold in January. Seems so long ago now.

Looks good man!

Just never understood why they didn't put the a/c compressor on the passenger side on these trucks.

Re: My '74 build- "Clifford"

I made one of my favorite changes so far. It might still charge @ 16V, but at least I finally did this. Also, my daughter shares my love of old Cadillacs. Just thought I would share (it's a 56 Series 62 with 24K original miles, BTW).
