Re: Slowly I build a truck
What i did was install a long bolt thru the center hole in the motor mount. This way all you have to do is line up the hole in the cradle and the mount and install nut and washer in the center hole in the cradle.

Re: Slowly I build a truck
Thanks gdavis, hopefully I won't be trying that one again!
Installed the grille. The passenger side looks better than the drivers side. The gap is too big on the drivers side. I'll blame it on the repop grille. Unless somebody has an idea on how to fix it, I'm afraid at this point I'm going to have to leave well enough alone and realize I'm doing this for the experience and not for perfection. |

Bumper's on. The Arrive Alive license plate was part of the 'Don't Drink and Drive' campaign in Florida in the 70's.

Cleaned up and installed the turn signals. They work, but not at the same time as the headlights. I'm going to have to re-visit the painless wiring instructions.

As far as the left side of the grill, you could try slotting the mounting holes in the bracket where it bolts to the fender. That may allow you to push the grill in further. That is why I like to stick with the best used OEM parts as possible. I normally do not condone modifying parts that should fit correctly in the first place. I would try and to loosen some of the mounting bolts and see if you can work it up closer. Be careful not to scratch that beautiful paint. Good Luck. |

Re: Slowly I build a truck
Thanks guys. I was very pleased with the paint.
I found this thread on the parking lights: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=428826 It seems that 67 trucks had the parking lights independent of the headlights and 68-72 had them combined. The painless wiring harness is apparently set up for the 67 trucks. I moved the 927 brown wire to the empty terminal next to #929 (dotted line) as discussed in the above thread and they are working together now. TBONE, that's a good idea for slotting the mounting holes in the bracket. That might work. I'll probably try that but I think I'll step away from that side of the truck for a while and work on the tail light section first. |

Re: Slowly I build a truck
I've put a stop on the spending also. I've been collecting parts for the past 8 years, so I'm hoping at this point almost everything else is already bought and sitting in the bed waiting to go on.

Re: Slowly I build a truck
Thanks! I alternate between the truck and remodeling a house, so I've been working on the house lately. The carb was messed up after sitting in the paint shop so long and it backfired and then would not run without flooding out. I had a friend work on the carburetor and he put something in there so it would not mess up if it backfired again. Sorry I don't know the technical terms for these things. Then I replaced the fuel fouled spark plugs and it's running good again. I'll try to post a video later. Next up is windshield, windows and seat cover, then I think it will be pretty close to ready to go. I still want to try to adjust the spacing on the front grill, but I had to walk away from that for a while.

This is a great build! Like others have mentioned, your attention to detail is envious. Thanks for sharing your progress with us.
BTW- I like the cowl hood. Posted via Mobile Device

Thanks guys. Here's a link to the latest video. I think the windshield is next, but that may be a few months.

Re: Slowly I build a truck
I keep some in the attic, toss some, and give some away. I might try to sell some of the better leftovers after all is said and done.

Re: Slowly I build a truck
I'll look and see if I still have it. As I recall it was very yellow and cracked so I'm not sure if I kept it or not.

Re: Slowly I build a truck
Picking back up after an extended break.
It's time for door glass. Test fitting the vent window. Tape, tape, tape. Not sure why these pictures are uploading sideways. Does anyone know how to fix that before I post more? |

Re: Slowly I build a truck
Installing the window glass run and door access hole plug. I ran the window glass run up to the vent window, then removed the vent window before installing the glass. That way I knew exactly how far to put the glass run, plus I had practice with the vent window before it got too crowded.
It looks like for pictures uploaded from my phone, I have to edit them first, rotate them and save them, then rotate them again and save them before uploading. Pain in the butt. Looks like I'll be using the camera instead of the cell phone for pictures from now on. |

Installing the window regulators. A little bit of grease never hurt anybody.
