Re: My 67 lwb: Project Katy
Thanks! I think you are talking about the parts truck i bought. That came apart real quick(only had 2 bolts holding it on-lol). The worst thing for me was the inner fenders. I swear i had to cut all the bolts on them.

Ohh...it took me and my grandpa close to and hour to get one fender off and still had to cut 3 of the bolts!

Re: My 67 lwb: Project Katy
Got it outside today! Installed the craftec tonneau cover today. Fits nice. Just need to figure out a hold down for it.
Next up i have to get the seats out to fix the oil line for the gauge(leaks). Hookup the heater. Tint the windows, and install my new wet okole seat covers. Hopefully the weather will be good this week.

Re: My 67 lwb: Project Katy
Worked on it some this week/weekend. Got he seats out so i could finish up the wiring on the heater and put the new carpet in. Well i went to fix the oil pressure gauge line(had a leak). Took the line off it was fine. Ended up being the gauge itself had a hole in the fitting. So i went to the parts store and bought a new one. Coudnt bring myself to mount it under the dash so i figured i would make it fit the cluster. Looked so good i went back and got the temp and volt gauges to match. While i had it out i figured it was a good time to add a matching tach. Painted all the tins gloss white, and added 9 new 168 bulbs to brighten it up. Pic of the cluster before it was in. Also laid my new carpet in it to let it settle before i fit it. Last pic is my new seat covers. Got them from Wet Okole out of Hawaii.

looking good! They make white overlays for the gauges if you wanted them to match...I may even have some extras if you're interested....

Thanks!! I know they do make them. It was a spur of the moment thing to change them all out/paint white. I might order a set just to have/install next time its out. After i put it in its growing on me.

Re: My 67 lwb: Project Katy
Well i had to sent my ecu for the ridetech air ride back to them. It was just holding 5 of the 8 valves open, so as soon as the tank had air it in it was letting it out. They got it and sent me a new one(was just over a year old, but fully covered-less than a week there and back). Got it back middle of the week. Have not been feeling good all week so it just sat there. Well today i got it back in and it works great. Got it off the ground and installed my seats and carpet finally(pics tomorrow).
Also hoping the ecu was the source of my air leak. I have tried the soapy water on all the fittings and they seam good(used loctite 545). Will find out tomorrow(if its still up).

Back together(mostly) and went for a ride. Also made it to my first show of the year(last sat at local advance auto). Still need to add a wood floor to the bed and do something for a center console.

Re: My 67 lwb: Project Katy
Triing to wrap up the interior. Bought a console out of a 94 c1500 for $17 at a local junkyard. Wanted a console instead of the non folding center seat that was in there. I have taken it all apart and dyed it black. Will be installing this weekend(i hope). Since i went with a console that meant the back wall would now be seen so i made a panel and covered it in black carpet. I used the 2 outer gas tank mounting locations to hold it in. I wanted the console alittle higher so i also made a platform for it to sit on(out of a couple 2*4s and a piece of plywood covered in matching black carpet). I didnt care for the 2 piece design of the console base (it felt loose) so i bonded the 2 sides together with some plastic weld. Much better now. All in i have about $35 into the console. Now i need to wrap up a few more odds and ends before the big show in 2 weeks.

Re: My 67 lwb: Project Katy
Finally decided how i want to tackle the bed floor. I need access to the entire center section so i went with 3/4 maple cabinet grade plywood. I am staining it( sedona red) then i will put several coats of clear on it. I have also bought some thin strips to make it look like its several pieces of wood(like the original). Also installed my vent shades i bought awhile ago.

Re: My 67 lwb: Project Katy
That's a great idea for the bed floor. I was thinking how to tackle that problem myself..

Re: My 67 lwb: Project Katy
Today`s progress. Put 3 coats of laquer clear on the top today(1 on bottom). Talk about boring(2 hours between coats). I was able to get it mounted. The front has a 4 foot piano hinge and in the rear there`s 2 hood pins to hold it down and a handle to help open it up(my gates welded so i didnt have a choice here). Now i need to get the 4 corner pieces cut, stained, and cleared. With mycover off the floor is able to open up 90 degrees. So plenty of room to work. Still have to find some gas assist shocks to help open and keep it up.

Re: My 67 lwb: Project Katy
Thanks!! I got the 4 corner pieces cut. I stained and cleared them today, will install tomorrow. I went to the junkyard and found 2 gas assist shocks for $6. Want to get them in tomorrow also.

Re: My 67 lwb: Project Katy
On a past truck I built I used the hood struts (gas shocks) and the mounts from a 94-96 impala SS (caprice, oldsmobile wagon). They might work in this application as well.

Re: My 67 lwb: Project Katy
Looks good. I like what you did with the bed, I'm sure a little cheaper than 1000 bucks for a wood bed kit and you get the same effect.

Re: My 67 lwb: Project Katy
All in. The shocks i got are not going to work. For now i will just use a prop to hold it up. I will figure something else out after the show this weekend.

Re: My 67 lwb: Project Katy
Wanted a different look with the rims so I painted them to match the tailgate letters. I love how it turned out. I also cleaned up the center caps. I removed the silver paint to reveal the chrome.
