i'm not sure what i would charge. i would have to get an accurate cost of materials. based on that i could give a better estimate. i have no idea what it would cost to ship. probably ~120 freight. based on shipping of similar sized stuff in the past. that could be way off though! Ryan |

Re: 72 k20 project
Look into a product named Red-Kote for the inside of tank. I used it on my modded 69 Camaro gas tank for about a year without any issues. The ethanol in todays fuels will cause the Red-Kote to lose it's pigment but not it's protection. I had the local radiator shop line it for about $40. They even brazed in a drain into the tank.

Re: 72 k20 project
Nice work on the tank! If it is stainless, I don't know if I'd coat it. Did you leave the baffles solid like that? The tanks looks sweet though! Loving your welds!

Re: 72 k20 project
Thanks!
its P&O steel. that is the only reason i want to coat it. after pricing the coatings i am not to sure i shouldnt have made it out of 304. oh well. i feel sacrilegious painting SS and i didnt want the "bling". the baffles are solid, but do not extend into the lower sump area. should keep sloshing to a minimum. |

Re: 72 k20 project
Yeah, it'll keep sloshing to a minimum for sure. I hope it isn't a bit much. Do you have a local rad. repair shop? They usually coat fuel tanks as well.

IMO the only way to over baffle is to totally seal the compartments off. as long as the fuel can transfer between the compartments as fast as you can fill it, its not to much. the draw tube is .5" so there is no chance of starving the engine. we build tanks with some regularity, and ive repaired enough tanks made by others to have learned that the single biggest problem is lack of baffling. the slosh of fuel fatigues the ends of the tank and will crack the welds over time. that is the main reason i welded inside at the bottom and up the sides. it is a stronger joint and reduces that chance of fatigue a bit. leaks make me angry... Re: 72 k20 project
Looks good. I hear you on not being a sheet metal guy. My stuff takes 3 tries to look like their work. Are you planning on running vintage air to be able to clear the fire wall now?

Re: 72 k20 project
yeah, there are a few trials that are not pictured. haha
i was always planning on vintage air. the stock stuff is to bulky for me. i have this spatial issue. i really like uncluttered space and that stock box takes up to much of my space. i know, i'm a wierdo. i wont even park in my garage when i have space, simply to have a wide open space... Ryan |

Re: 72 k20 project
Haha, i remain impressed that you used it and got two turbos mounted in there.
i have some plans for that area rolling around in my head and using the stock heater/a/c stuff would totally ruin my plans.... it may still not work but i have a chance. Ryan |

Re: 72 k20 project
I've thought about ditching the stock a/c heater housing on the next cab, but if I go that route, that cab and project will have to wait. If anything is getting vintage air it is my 40.
