Re: 56 GMC Aussie Style

Thanks heaps for the comments guy's, although we build for our own personal taste and satisfaction there's always a motovative factor that comes from others liking what you achieve and do.

Anyway I fitted the steering wheel, I wanted a little bling in the cab and I really liked the mid 50s Pontiac Cheiftan wheels and being GMC I thought I could get away with it.

I tracked one down with no cracks and restored it, also found an new old Radatron Tach, it may have been an alcheapo back in the day but at least its USA made and not Chinese

Re: 56 GMC Aussie Style

Finished!!! but not quite.
There's still more work to be done, ie iron out the occasional squeak & rattle which is not much but I'm fussy. Dynamat the floor & connect up the Radio for sound.

All in all I'm happily surprised with the way it drives straight out of the box. It cruises, steers, corners & brakes nice like a well maintained 70s-80s pickup would.

Re: 56 GMC Aussie Style

Red, I just reread your whole thread. I admire the way your truck turned out and the way you took your time and did everything right the first time. I'm partial to the way you did your clip and I'm glad I could help on that part. What a beautiful truck and Love that Wedge!!!!! Enjoy it now you've earned it. Ray

Re: 56 GMC Aussie Style

it's like right at home in the driveway. I just love the way it all turned out. Beautiful straight patina'd body combined with the interior and that perfect stance makes this one a winner!

Yep it was that picture of your buddy's Camaro clip you posted a few years back that made it an easy decision for me, I did however really like the way Chuckdriver's clip was done but at the time looked way too complex for me to do.

Ray, here's the pic you posted back in 2009 that made it a no brainer, thanks again George.

Hey Red, plenty of shade here in VB - expecting another 8 inches of snow tomorrow! Jim

Re: 56 GMC Aussie Style

The truck looks good!

I have a '58 and a '59 348 block and neither of them have the two bolt holes yours does for the power steering pump. I'm going to have to get creative.
