Re: 1958 LS2 with C4 front and rear

And the hits just keep getting better...I think I am going to have to cut out a portion of my original front cross member out o be able to get the power rack out...It's not for sure but i have it unblolted and there is no way it's going to come out. I had to take the walk and thing....and that is my plan B.....The other thing is does anyone know how to tell the C4 racks apart year wise ?

Re: 1958 LS2 with C4 front and rear

Has anyone done the 4 wheel C4 disc brake with the CPP under floor master and booster combo ?...I put in the residual valves hooked it all up and it does seem to have any power brakes.....it feels just like booster isn't working or helping out. I swappedout boosters and it's still the same....wierd...anyone?

If memory serves me (and it usually doesn't) GM used a 1" M/C piston in the C4. Make sure the CPP is too. You'll need a 2lb - 10lb setup because your m/c is lower than your calipers. Check your vacuum pressure. That's all I can think of.

On another note: Have you tried bleach or "wood bleach" on that stain. I'm not saying it will work, but it may be something to try on a very small test area.

Good luck sorting things out.

Re: 1958 LS2 with C4 front and rear

Well....
I had my old rack and pinion rebuilt because I couldn't find a new one. I got it back at 5pm last night and called the boys over, and managed to get it installed and buttoned up last night. I have also been waiting for HPT to provide the software for my 4L80E behind the LS2 trailblazer combo and they replied back last night in a email saying basically that .....it's not going to happen because that combo was never offered from the factory. Soooooooo I gues thats my newest hurdle....I moved it last night and it's oing to need some brake work...the pedal " bottoms out " with out the truck stopping out. So i am going to have to think about that, but i am guessing that has to do with rod length for the Master.

Re: 1958 LS2 with C4 front and rear

they make stand alone trans controllers for the 4l80e trans, pricey but maybe an option
brakes: could be the rod or maybe just air in the system
make sure all brake bleed screws are on the top of the calipers
that sucks about your nice bed wood, i'd try mineral spirits to get the stain out

Ya thanks...I am looking at the stand alone harnesses right now...I have tried almost everything on the oak and it's going to have to come out and be redone. I think it's rod lenght but i migt just ebleed them again to make sure thas agood idea. It goes in for a alingment tomorrow and then maybe i can get it up in the air on my buddies hoist and work on the brakes. I so wanna drive it now....

Hey, just a thought... have contacted one of the floor or house restoration companies that deal with water/fire damage for floods etc. Maybe they have a magic solution? Sucks that it would have to redone

I used to be in the wood Bizz....I tried it all...it's done. It's going to have to be pulled out and redone, I have already pulled some of the stain off working all the stained area. Trust me it's going to be ugly, drop the fuel tank and thats not easy because the way my filler tube is. Working around the 2 battery trays or drop them and then there is a row of bolts right in my new cross members that are ugly. So it's staying that way for a while.....lol

Re: 1958 LS2 with C4 front and rear

Well i have brake woes...
The top of the pedal is fine but it doesn't stop the truck and the pedal bottom outs....I tried swapping out the booster already and thats not it....I adjusted the rod thats not it....so now it's come down to go with a smaller bore master cylinder....todays project.

But the good news is that it runs and moves...

Well shifting woes....

It doesn't shift yet and with that trailblazer set up it's ugly.....So

Plan 1 )....We have a guy who can write program and over ride the GM code....I still don't think thats going to fly. With out relays....and....and...

Plan 2) I bought a stand alone tranny Harness From TCI...I know that will work

I also got the 4 wheel alignment off the list.....It sure made a difference loading it onto the trailer....Having the wheel straight and both wheels pointed ahead....lol
