Yeah I'm confident we can get it solid again with ease, I'm just not looking forward to all the labor hours! Dougs my best friend so dont mind doing it for him one bit, it just means my s10 is gonna take longer to get finished.

I'd be extremely interested in getting those 3 back wall pieces of bent tubing off you! How much would you want for them? Guess its up to doug depending how much though since its his truck/ wallet I'm draining.

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4

Chevette, Yes, I am glad I powered it. Because I can see a lot of bead rolling coming, then I can do it myself and do not need anyone to crank it.

oldman3, I love sheet metal work. It does help that I have alot of tools to do it. I blanked the long floor pieces out with the plasma cutter and then trimmed them to to size on the jump shear. So it was pretty quick. I can not wait till I start the bead rolling. Yes I think Ken is happy.

98layinframe, Yes you can make it solid again. I know what you mean on the s10 waiting a little while. Let me know about the back tubing pieces and if you need the sheet metal piece too,. It will not be much.

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4

I started paneling the floor tonight. I love the look of it. I still have to put the cab mounts in. That is why everything is just clecoed. I will put them after the floor pans are finished paneled. Mount/ make the rear mounts then plug weld and seam weld the floor in.

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4

48 GMC BURB, Thank you. Glad you like it. It will be sold now. I will keep an eye out for the box.

Chevette, Thank you. I like the carpet delete. That would be cool. But it would mark up so quick.

oldman3, Thank you.

99 to Life, Thank you.

69CST-V, Thank you, Glad to post the pictures and glad you find them helpful.

I worked on the inner and outer cab corner and finished it up. I also paneled out the other side of the floor boards. Next is to mount the cab ,weld the floor in and make the transmission tunnel. Then moving forward to the cowls and the toe boards and firewall. Then the cab should be in good shape.

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4

oldman3, all do not give me that crap about talent! I went through your build before! You have plenty of talent. If I remember right, some bodies truck was in the street scene mag. It was a very busy week. We are crazy busy at work and I had 55 hrs in there, worked Friday and Saturday night on the panel after work both days. The wife knew there was a car show this coming weekend that I want to go to. So she fix it so we can go. So it is fixed. Then Sunday it was back to sheet metal.

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4

Like everyone said, looks great! You probably said, but do you use 18 or 20 gauge for all your floors and firewalls?

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4

oldman3, No problem. How is your son doing? I have not seen him on here for a while.

BlueJeep, Thank you. The firewall I did on the 48 truck was 18 gauge, it was a little springy. So this time I am going 16 gauge on them both. The floors were fine with 18 gauge because the paneling is small. But firewall is so big I went with a little thicker. And my bead roller did not seem to know the difference.

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4

oldman3, I wondered. I have not seen him on for a while.

reaper71, Thank you. Yes, It has been a while. I bet you are glad to be home. You will have to give me the link if you are posting of the step side. I know what you mean about time and space.

I have been working on the truck a little. We are super busy at work right now and I have been working 6 days a week for the past 2 weeks, and then Mothers day was a day off. I am working on the cab mounts now. I blasted the front ones today at work during my lunch in our new blast cabinet. It is 4'x4'x8'. I can fit a lot of stuff in it I told the owner. He just looks at me with a smile. I also made the back mounts out of 2"x 4" box tube cut on an angle on the bottom. Just have to mount them to the frame and put my plates on the floor structure. So I should have the floor welded in soon so I can keep working forward.

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4

I now have the cab mounts made. I welded 1/2" nuts on the mounts so you can just run the bolts down from the top and you do not need to put a wrench on the bottom. Next is to add the plates onto the floor structure. Then the cab will be mounted. Next is to weld in the floor.

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4

mknittle, Thank you.

99 to Life, Thank you. The front mounts are the factory ones. They were just blasted. They would not be hard to make though. I would just do them is 1/8" plate and weld the sides on.

I put the rest of the tubing in the cab structure were the cab mounts are going to be yesterday after work. So hopefully today after work I can get the cab bolted down. Yesterday and today are only 8 hr days so I should have it done by dinner time. Then tomorrow the floor will be welded in and start working on the cowls.

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4

Chevyboy73, thank you. Yes , it should be a fun driver.

Cab is now mounted and bolted down. Nice and strong. I figured while I have the floor out it would be easier to figure the drive shaft out. I have a couple to do at work. 2 aluminium ones and a steel one. The other aluminium one is for the 48 I was working on for a buddy. I will machine them in a lathe and weld them up. Next is the floor.
