Nice. That is really nice work. "Booger" doesn't seem to be a fitting name now.
I can hear the announcer at the show, "And the trophy goes to,,,..ah..,,who?,,,,WHO?!??booger?,,,,,,,,,,,Booger"!
Good Job Man!

Good Job Man!
Everyone who sees ol boog keeps saying that we're gonna have to come up with a new name now. At that point I simply point to the thousands of grease boogers permanently embedded in my driveway and say "nope, still booger to me"

Got the cluster spit shined and rebuilt yesterday:

My son showed up to help me work on ol boog last night. We got the rear bumper installed, door catch plates back on and adjusted, but most importantly we got to spend some time together which for me was the greatest reward of all!

Re: Project "Booger" UPDATE

Well its been a while since I poked my head in here so I figured I better update. Between breaking out the camper and heading to Northern AZ and working my tail off I haven't had alot of time but I have been slowly plugging away!

I've spent the majority of my time trying to put together this aftermarket grill I bought...Let me start off by saying "they don't make them like they used to"...New grill is paper thin and a complete lightweight compared to the original. That said I was able to get it assembled without casualty.

Next came fitting it to the truck...Hmmm Seems the problem I was having with the hood not closing translates into an even bigger problem fitting the grill. After a few hours of loosening and tugging on things I got the grill in place:

Finally got the hood aligned and everything seems to open and close as it should and I knew going in old boogs front end is a tad out of whack from his previous life but with a few spacers here and a little grinding there I got the bumper on straight and boog looked like this:

Did some other things like finishing up the lights, installing a new AC drier, Carpet, Steering wheel, Tailgate handle/latches, door seals (Press on from GMCPauls are awesome by the way) and much more that I didn't get pics of unfortunately. I'll take some of those when I get the interior done.

In any case I rolled old boog out into the sun yesterday while I cleaned the garage and this is what boog looks like today:

At this point I need a radio, speakers, some headlights, side glass and a seat and the first iteration of booger is almost complete

Man I wanna drive this thing...

Thank you very much bomp! I've said it before and I'll say it again its not perfect and wont win any awards but its 1000X better than it was. If I were to do it all over again I'd have spent even more time on body work but this way I dont have to worry about dings!

Looks great! That's one heck of a roll on paint job. How did you paint the tight areas in the jams, window frames etc?

Re: Project "Booger"

Just wanted to post an update. Ive been driving ol boog every day for work and he's performing awesome. Rides like a cadillac but still has the character and rattles of an old truck. Been so busy driving him for work I haven't had a chance to post in a while, hell I havent even had the AC charged and its HOT here! Anyway here is the final product and my daily driver. THANKS TO EVERYONE here who helped get this old truck to where it is today!

Boog in his workin form...Notice I already MUNCHED the cab on a rock EXACTLY where it was munched before. Oh well it adds character and hes no garage queen.

Interior..Yep I still haven't installed a radio either!

I love going back and looking at where this old truck came from

Hope ya'll had a great summer. I'm gonna make a point to check in here more often again

Thank you sir I just went through your build and Im certain yours is gonna look better

Update on ol boog...Tuesday I FINALLY got around to getting the AC charged up with the new greenie refrigerant 134A. I was leery about doing it but I converted to a new Sanden compressor, replaced the lines, went with a new style POA valve, changed the drier and kept the Old evaporator and Condensor. It Blows ICE COLD once I got the POA adjusted right to keep the compressor on longer!

And I had my buddy frank come out and do a little tint to keep interior temps down
