Re: My 65 step build and first chevy
Finished today with getting the windshield ready. Going to give it a shot tomorrow. Made a few tools out of some old cheap T handles I had. Hope they will work.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy
Installed this with my wife early this morning before it got to hot. Took about 1 1/2 hours just went real slow started at bottom with rope once the bottom was in the top cleared the edge. Then it was pretty straight forward could not have done it without her pushing from outside. Happy Fathers Day to all who are. It is 114 degrees now glad I was done this morning.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy
Got everything under the truck finished now. Got the front bumper installed today. Had to do some modifying to the driver side bracket because the power steering box was in the way. When I got the truck these brackets were missing so it was a surprise. So now it is on the ground and can move around on its own power finally Lol. I like the stance will have to see after it is driven awhile if it will settle any lower. May bring the rear up a inch if it does. Right now it is 21/2" drop spindle one inch smaller spring on front. Rear has a 4 inch smaller spring. Next is the side windows and door handles. Hoping to get the hood on tomorrow when the kids come by but they don't know that yet Lol

Lookin Good!
I agree with the drop. If the front drops more, I'd say it'll still look good, but the back may be a little low for my taste.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy
Thanks I am really looking forward to spending time driving instead of working on this every weekend. I will most likely bring it up a inch I do want to be able to pull a small trailer if needed.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy
Found these kick panels at Freds Truck Parts in Escondido. They do not have the cutouts for the vents. Since I had to cover the vent on passenger side when I put in Vintage air decided to cover other side as well and use these. Doubt I would ever open and the handle is hitting the fuse panel right now so will not close all the way. A little more than the mass produced ones but worth it for nice clean look.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy
So on way home from there developed a miss at about 1500 rpm. I think I found the problem it is a vacuum leak on carb but have not fixed yet to verify. Other problem is it is running hot. I have tried just about everything. The fans kick on the thermostat opens when verifying in pan of water on stove. Only thing I have not verified yet is the water pump for sure a reverse rotation I need to pull to verify. I purchased the correct part number but you never know. Truck is running hot at idle or highway. Frustrating for sure. I did a block test 3 times to convince myself they head gaskets were ok. Check timing 3 times 12 degrees advanced with vacuum unplugged vacuum advance working great. Mostly now a bunch of small things to complete.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy
Well I have been fixing all the little rattles and getting the over heating problem fixed. Thought I would share these pics as I think this project is getting close to completion. The overheating problem was fixed with a spal 16" high performance fan with a shroud took care of any over heating in town, Never really had problem with highway.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy
I have really enjoyed this project and want to say thanks to all who post it really helps to see other ideas and not reinvent the wheel on rebuilding stuff. Now we just enjoy the truck we took it to Pomona Swap Meet today here are a few pics of some C10's we saw.

Re: My 65 step build and first chevy
Truck is doing good still have a few bugs to fix. Temp gauge shows hot even after replacing the sending unit and swapping the gauge. Have a gauge hooked up inline on radiator hose truck runs at 200 in 100 degrees with ac on so pretty good. Odometer only the 10th mile turns. Speaker rattles in the dash this must stop lol.
